Yay, 16th does me fine. This modern pop cheesiness from Mexico! I first heard it while sitting in a hotel lobby in Bolivia and only understood the odd bit but it made me smile (my spanish is still a WiP) ;)

I figure my memories of travel probably sway my love of this song too! :D

This was absolutely massive back in 1994. I remember it being played on the radio constantly for months. It wasn't really for me back then and that's not a slight on the song; I was just more interested in listening to Whigfield and 2 Unlimited on repeat. Now that I'm older do I appreciate it more? yes, it's a really nice power ballad. The strings and vocals are both great.

This song is as cool as 500 cucumbers in a big fridge. The song gets progressively darker as it goes on. The last three minutes are like a descent into hell, even the guitar sounds evil.

All hail our Memelord! Never gonna give you up is a great song, Rick Rolls have no effect on me! :D This is another fun 80's pop song. The synth is great. The lyrics are super cheesy. It's actually very catchy, it's growing on me!

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? No

This is one of Taylor's earlier songs as a country artist. According to the album description this song was once the number one selling country song of all time! Surprised I haven't heard it before. It's a great country pop song. Not a fan of the Romeo and Juliet lyrics but other that I can't argue much. The bridge at 2:30 is brilliant.

She's just released a re-recorded version of this song. She's re-recording all her earlier albums because she's not happy with who holds the rights to them.

Absolutely love this song. The outro is my favourite outro of all time. I don't really think of it as evil or dark, just evocative of being mad in the head over someone. I love how the vortex of sound conjures up that feeling. Ah, the way the white noise just builds and builds...and then - bang! - just cuts off abruptly...

Ah come on its a great love song/video. Great story for the grandkids :pac:

Grandad kidnapped me, then fell in love with me, came to his senses, killed the other dude, & we ran off to live happily ever after.

'I found love where it wasn't supposed to be. Right in front me'.

    :D

Well that was the strangest love song I've ever heard. The singer has one of those gravelly Tom Waits/Nick Cave voices that I've never enjoyed listening to. Not my cup of tea.

Richard & Linda Thompson - The Calvary Cross

Have I listened to this artist before? No
Have I listened to this song before? No

This begins with a 50 second guitar with a Middle Eastern sound to it. And then the actual song is completely different. I don't like the lyrics at all, they come across as very subservient "You can be my broom-boy" "Everything you do, You do for me" It's more BDSM song than love song. The actual instrumentation isn't bad but I can't get over the lyrics.

As far as I'm concerned this is right up there with the greatest love songs ever. I feel like it doesn't get enough recognition because it's relatively new. If it was released in the 70's or 80's you'd all agree. Oh you still don't agree? Well tough bananas.
