Excellent. Will be doing this myself.

You would be better off spending your time reading what your freedom of travel actually entitles you to and the limits that a country can place on them

Next up prove that you have been denied the right to move to another country.

    Good luck with that

It moves so depends where they are at the time.

Now just avoid the checkpoints outside and the Gardai on foot patrol inside

Some pretty concerning newsflow over the last 24hrs on the future economic prospects of this country:

    1. Coveney saying the MHQ will be expanded (possibly protracted?)

    2. Biden/Yellen calling for "minimum global corporate tax rate" with the blessing of EU, Germany, France, OECD

Could have some MAJOR consequences on the likelihood of multinationals continuing to base their European/Global operations out of here. Or even just attracting new ones going forward... if within your 5km limit, have a stroll through central Dublin to see how much office space is being built. I'm no expert but it appears there is a high degree of speculative construction based on Bigtech/post-brexit influx of companies.

The future may not be so green for the Emerald Island (pun intended).

I wonder could a valid complaint be made about the current passport situation? At present they are only being issued on a lottery basis.

A fully vaccinated lady from Israel with negative PCR test who arrived in Dublin via Germany today to work whisked off to the Holiday Inn express to do her quarantine by the army, while others traveling on the same flight go about their business, you really couldn’t make this stuff up, great little country all the same, she was on Liveline

To whom? Europe? They dont control our passports and have no input. I see the angle you are coming from but if you think the EU is going to make the Irish government issue passports at full tilt, guess again.

True. I'm guessing Michael O'Leary would already be lodging complaints on all our behalf already if he saw an angle, or maybe it is yet to come?

Im actually surprised he hasnt with the fines at the airport and the MHQ system brought in after his last case. Maybe after the last one and Gemma / John getting thrown out he sees that the courts will not be siding with applicants any time soon

Saw that Ryanair will be operating a new route from Shannon to Corfu this Summer.

Would it be reasonable to think that Ryanair do not expect the fines and MHQ to still be in operation by then?
(I know that Greece is not on MHQ List - yet)

He needs to look beyond the Irish courts. I'm starting to wonder if organised lobbying of our MEPs would yield anything?

Does anyone know the Garda setup at Dublin port currently?

I saw that too. I wonder if it's an attempt to wet the appetites of the mob and cause a change of position? I've noticed that the Bergamo flights are now being operated by Malta Air, it would appear they are beginning to sub out routes.

    Air Malta is Ryanair.

They've been doing it for ages, long before covid.

Most of the flights from Ireland to Poland for example would be run by Buzz, again part of Ryanair.

I hope everyone is looking forward to their holiday in Trondheim when the UK launches its new traffic light system (i.e. copies the EU's).

Except that only residents are allowed into Norway anyway.

What would the scenario be if the country you travelled via was on the hotel list but your original departure point was not. For example, France are put on the list and Germany isnt and you get the ferry from France to Ireland after driving from Germany to get it

An Irish family were quarantined after a short airport stopover in Dubai, so unfortunately it's a no go.

What happens if you land in Ireland and head straight for the NI border? Can an Irish citizen do that?

I've just been involved in the purchase of equipment in Italy. It'll have to be inspected pre delivery. I wonder if I can take my wife? : )

But even if they check your passport it wouldn’t show up the prior trip.
That tech doesn’t exist yet on our passports.

You would need to quarantine in Dublin for 2 weeks before going up north, you might be able to pay using the queens money though

The UK will not go on the hotel list, so another hypothetical, if France was a listed country and you arrived via the UK say by car. Would be difficult to track?

Greece is hellbent on getting the tourist islands fully vaxxed - some are already 100% complete. They're fully intent on opening up on in May, digital cert or not. Mickey knows this and will put what's in place to capitalise on it. Both Ryanair and Aer Lingus are doing competing Santorini routes this year.

Whether the gov will faciliate his efforts is a different matter.

I think it would be impossible to prove you didn’t come from the UK but aren’t they also putting France on their ‘red’ list?

So if anyone tries to fly non - essentially from Dublin right now and is caught by the guards it is currently a €500 fine.

What happens to someone who tries to fly non -essentially from Belfast? Have the NI government a fine aswell?

There’s a “don’t fly nonessential” at the moment in the north and UK however ...
It’s an ever evolving situation in the north at the moment ie they’re yet to confirm their international travel plans for this summer but there’s no way in hell they’re going to follow us into tourist industry oblivion.

I guess they’re awaiting bojos confirmation next week which is suggesting a traffic light system akin to the Euro system.

I’d be waiting 4-6 weeks to book via Belfast at this point just to affirm a confident realistic holiday option.

I think it is now €2000, came in officially a few days ago I believe.
