They're about as similar as two non-tricolour flags (or two navy flags with a Union Jack in the top left...) could be really. I reckon one cheated off the other.

So toss of a coin here - Western Highlands for the nicer shade of green.

Two decent ones here, but Western Highlands gets my vote for the more pleasing colour scheme.

    I'm not really loving either...

South Australia; the overall colour scheme is less bothersome to my eyes.

Looks good. I'm too lazy to check but I bet it's very symbolic too

    South Australia

The flag is based on the defaced British Blue Ensign with the state badge located in the fly. The badge is a gold disc featuring a piping shrike with its wings outstretched. The badge is believed to have been originally designed by Robert Craig, a teacher at the School of Arts in Adelaide, and officially gazetted on 14 January 1904.

    Aboriginal Flag
The symbolic meaning of the flag colours

Black – represents the Aboriginal people of Australia
Yellow circle – represents the Sun, the giver of life and protector
Red – represents the red earth, the red ochre used in ceremonies and Aboriginal peoples’ spiritual relation to the land

    No contest Aboriginal Flag

Ok so there's way too much going on in the Chimbu. & I don't even know what the heck the other one is supposed to represent so.... abstaining on this one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,786 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

    Chatham Islands

The unofficial flag of the Chatham Islands (Wharekauri in Maori; Rekohu in the indigenous Moriori language) is a blue field with a map of the island in the centre, the Te Whanga Lagoon depicted in white. Behind this device map is a depiction of the rising sun, an allusion to its local name Rekohu, meaning 'rising sun'.

    Chimbu

The bird of paradise and Southern Cross from the national flag are combined with two red spears (representing leadership), a white chain (for unity) and a yellow coffee branch (for the main cash crop).

It's a great flag, potential finalist?

    Chimbu for me

Appeals to my eyes more, don't know what it is but I like that I can make it up. Today it's a moosehead

In my defense, I'm multitasking atm. I've about three boards tabs open because I'm listening to music, trying to add them to my playlisys, and trying to make a start on my noms for another game lol. So I'm a bit all over the place

That will do us for Day 2 of this trip to the far flung part of this ball of water and rock we call home. Tomorrow we should finish off Round 1, there's still plenty more beauts to behold. Until then friends, stay well.

If I really disliked a flag the symbolism wouldn't matter but I do love to learn what they mean and it could sway me if it the symbolism was particularly good.
