    Enga Province -
The background is divided into black (for the national flag) and green (for vegetation) triangles. At the centre is a yellow, black and white dendrobium engae orchid (the provincial flower).

    Madang
Red, yellow and black stripes (representing the national flag) form the background. Six white stars represent the 6 districts. In black and white, Madang's memorial to the Coastwatchers of the Second World War is surrounded by coconut palm branches (for agriculture) and a slit drum (for tradition)..

Madang stronger symbolism but Enga aesthetically pleasing so Enga for me please.

Sorry but wasn't able to play till now. I have to be honest I loved the mad flag that didn't get through but agree with Omack's judgement on the bout.

New Caledonia - don't like the brown at all.

    manus flag meaning
"The colour brown represents the inland people and the blue represents the island people. The Chauka is only found in the Manus province. It is not found in any other place in PNG. My second reason for selecting the chauka is that it heralds the coming of dawn and signals the going down of the sun." explanation of the symbolism by the flag designer.

    New Caledonia
The blue symbolizes both the sky and more importantly the ocean surrounding New Caledonia. The red symbolizes the blood shed by the Kanaks in their struggle for independence, socialism, and unity. The green symbolizes the land itself and by extension the ancestors buried within it. The yellow disc is a representation of the sun and the symbol upon it consists of a flèche faitière, a kind of arrow that adorns the roofs of Kanak houses thrust through tutut shells

I love both but New Caledonia is more striking for me and the symbolism is better.

Don't like either much but will go for Manus for the unusual choice of brown, an under-rated colour

Edit - should have typed quicker

Oro for me. the symbology of culture, wildlife and vegetation wins it for me. too much going on with the morobe one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,786 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

    Morobe
The background stripes are green (for vegetation), yellow (for Markham Valley) and blue (for the sea). A white bird of paradise (representing animal life), white pigšs tusks (traditional exchange), a brown and yellow kundu drum (for festivals) and spears (for traditional warfare) are at the centre.

    Oro
A gold strip of tapa cloth with red and black markings (representing culture) and a yellow Queen Alexandra birdwing butterfly (representing wildlife) cover a green background (for vegetation).

    Morobe for me please.

Morose because I have an irrational fear of butterflies :o

Oooh those horrible horrible little hairy ****ers, with their super sticky legs
    Barf
Gives me shivers thinking about them.
    Butterflies too.

    Sinead I get ya ;)

    how are you with moths?

Surprisingly I'm not that bothered by them.

Butterflies are either as thick as a plank & can't fly in one direction, or they know exactly what they are doing!

Fluttering in about 50 different directions so I don't know if they are going to pass me, or if they are going to fly into my mouth.

    Can't trust the cnuts.

    Horrible little fckers

Ugggghhhh, that description is giving me the not good kind of shivers!

(I'm not a fan of either but as long as they stay out of my home...)

I am now looking around the house for insects with the hairs standing up on the back on my neck, ffs :D

Bluebottle's on the other hand are great little friends. Very intelligent lil dudes. No effort at all in getting them out the house. No need to fly swat like a maniac. You basically just use a cushion or something to direct them to the window and the lil legends just casually follow your lead. Great little things. Massive appreciation for Bluebottles :pac:

Bluebottles are thick b*st*rds, they just keep flying into the window trying to get out. I hate those dirty fcukers and exterminate them on sight with my electric zapper tennis racquet thingy.
