    And the final playoff battle is;

    Holidate

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9866072/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

Fed up with being single on holidays, two strangers agree to be each other's platonic plus-ones all year long, only to catch real feelings along the way.

    El Camino Christmas

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3255590/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3

Eric comes to El Camino looking for his unknown dad. He's harassed, hit and jailed by a drunk local cop, who later shoots at a liquor mart with Eric +4 inside. The sheriff and deputy then shoot up the place, answering each other's fire.

    Jingle All The Way 2

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3486392/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3

Larry's daughter wants only one thing for Christmas, a talking bear. His daughter's stepdad intends to make sure that Larry can't get one.

It's time for the last 64 to battle it out.

As there's so many of them we will be doing 2 matches at a time :)

    First match up is;

    Match 1

    Elf
Buddy, a human, is raised amongst elves at the North Pole. When he discovers that he is not an elf, he travels to New York to search for his biological father.

    Vs.

    Switched For Christmas

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7038606/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

Just because they are identical does not mean these twins even like each other. Estranged twin sisters get together for an obligatory pre-Christmas lunch, a year after their mother's death. Both women are unhappy and frustrated with their own lives. Though not close, each is envious of the other's life. What's a twin to do but take advantage of this? And who would be the wiser? They do what any identical twins in need of new outlooks would do: they swap lives until Christmas Day, and by doing so, each woman discovers the true meaning of her life and gains a deeper perspective and appreciation for what she already had

    Match 2

    Christmas Inheritance

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7608534/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

To be the CEO, an heiress is challenged by her dad to deliver a Christmas letter in person to his ex-partner in their hometown - traveling by bus, incognito and with only $100. Will she learn something from the people there?

    Vs.

    Noelle

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5097410/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Santa's daughter must take over the family business when her father retires and her brother, who is supposed to inherit the Santa role, gets cold feet.

Easy wins for Elf and Noelle,

The next two matchups might not be as clear cut.

    Match 3

    Die Hard 2

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099423/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
John McClane attempts to avert disaster as rogue military operatives seize control of Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.

    VS.

    Deck The Halls

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0790604/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
Two neighbors have it out after one of them decorates his house for the holidays so brightly that it can be seen from space.

    Match 4

    It's a Wonderful Life

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038650/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
An angel is sent from Heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed.

    VS

    Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039628/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_5
When a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalized as insane, a young lawyer decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing.

I really dislike Deck the Halls... but I really wouldn't classify Die Hard 2 as a Christmas film, but I do classify the first one as one.

    1. Die Hard 2 - only getting my vote because Deck The Halls is crap :)
    2. It's a Wonderful Life

  • Registered Users Posts: 27,905 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

    1. I really like Die Hard 2 but don't think it belongs here. So Deck the Halls it is.
    2. Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
