Will do, but i dont think I've any decent duplicates. I'll be testing and cleaning these today and adding in to the collection so will know what's there. As movie collections go, my LaserDisc one isn't that big(maybe 300 movies and a few tv show sets).

50 percent gaming related but thought I'd share

    Finally collected this yesterday.

Pretty well built really. Has an error message so won't play.

But I'm thinking of stripping it and making it a virtual pin

Well, a proper collector of LaserDiscs can have thousands. I'm just a lightweight 🙂

Got an SD2Gecko and a GC controller extension cable. Exciting times.

Former is for a DOL-101 getting Picoboot, latter is to mod another Super Famicom controller to work with the GameCube for GB Player games.

I bought a CD if that counts, it's video game related...

Between the Covid pricing turning me off buying and ordering a new car back in March purchases have continued to be nonexistent. I must start having a look at a few generic games I've had my eye on the last few months and see if I can pick up anything cheap(ish)

An Antonio Villena MiSTer JAMMA adapter just arrived in the past week. Also just took delivery last night of Ciderman's old Arcade1Up Street Fighter 2 cab.

Audio fix (installed missing components to give L+R audio channels instead of factory L) done along with the brightness mod. Seems this can runs 'Moo' so no point in the USB mod.

I've now got a Arcade 1Up Pacman cab, including the riser.

It's the 1st gen one so it is only Pacman and Pacman Plus, which is fine, no other games to be discovered on the existing PCB.

I'm not intending to hack it with a pi and a LCD controller either, just leaving it as is, for now

Not exactly retro, but getting your hands on a new device without a backlight sure does feel retro :)

The limited run Data Discs Sonic Spinball vinyl arrived yesterday. I also grabbed Sonic Mania while I was at it as they had a stock of represses in.

I was expecting import duty as Data Discs is UK based, but the order came from Germany so nothing to pay on top of the order costs. Happy days :0)

Re: Playdate, I am loving mine, though I think Monday's Cranklin's Time Adventure is the real killer app for the system.

Metal Jesus did a video on the console and, personally, got it all wrong.

He was bitching about the aforementioned lack of backlight and the size of the device.

To be honest, he seemed entirely out of touch with the stated purpose of the handheld and, in the end, he is no real consequence as the device is selling as fast as they can make them, if you order one now you will be lucky to get it next year.

It's a nice little device for developers as well to make something quick for. The lack of colour makes art a lot easier to make and apparently the dev kit is really nice to work with.

Nice! Didn't know there was a spin ball one too. I got Mania already but think I got the different colour one

The Sonic Mania I got was a repress. Looks like you go the limited run version.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,021 ✭✭✭Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy

I wasn't sure if it limited or not, it got it a few years back. I was a bit late but still got it, I just thought it was cooler 😂

Sorry I was thinking of posting about Spinball but wasn't sure if those interested were already on the mailing list. Definitely worth signing up for as you get notice a few days in advance and you get the access code to buy so you're not surprised by something going on sale immediately and left out of stock. Also you can get Twitter notifications too if you like. Data Discs don't bombard you with emails/tweets.

    Hey folks,

Has anyone here bought any Japanese imports from this ebay seller in the last year ?

    https://feedback.ebay.ie/fdbk/feedback_profile/ganba-8

They have 99.9% positive feedback, my only concern is all the packages from outside the EU getting returned (see this thread)

I ordered some games from Japan earlier in the year from a different seller that came through OK but I might have got lucky.

They looked nice, so I bought them.

I also haven't posted on here for a long, long time so I needed a cheap excuse.

But it will be filled with retro right? RIGHT ?????

Doesn't every food food press or pantry got a tin of weird soup/beans/meatballs that no one remembers buying and has a best before date of some time in the early 00s, and therefore retro?

I think we need to have some sort of ceremony to pass the moniker of 'pantry boy' on to yourself!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,985 ✭✭✭Inviere

That can only happen if there's evidence of gold wallpaper tbf...

I reckon your moniker is quite safe 😊

Chance sending this link onto them, it's their own site so can be changed into Japanese.

    https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/information/2021/1201_01_en.html

I linked site to a seller, sadly they didn't do it right or didn't even read it I dunno, it was sent back, the seller reposted with a courier instead and got stung bad for customs. I mostly stuck to courier, have put a lot of posts in that thread sadly, An Post are useless too.

My Apple Newton arrived today from an Adverts seller. Not in mint condition or boxed, but works fine and has a 2MB card included.

Always wanted one of these for some reason. It'll go next to my Psion collection 🙂

It has the type of plastic thats coated in a rubber material that goes sticky after all these years. But its not too far gone and a rub with a high grade mineral oil seems to help a lot.
