Its part of no narrative.....trump is a ghoul, done plenty wrong, fcuked over the kurds, who actually lead the fight vs isis

But to wipe US and UK hands, particularly obama and cameroon of the mess, they made by interfering in libya and syria in particular is mind-boggling

The world is alot safer to have americans at each others throats at home, than interfering in what are in reality, only econmic reasons for war

I'm not a big fan of the 'Team America - World Police' position that many of them take but I'm not so sure I would flat out say the world is a safer place without some country or group taking this role.

    Who knows for sure.

It's actually worth remembering Hillary Clinton's comments about what occurred in Lybia. She basically laughed and joked about the fact that she witnessed Gaddafi on screen being anally raped by a Al Qaeda bayonet when he was executed on the roadside after his convoy was blown up by a US drone missile. "we came, WE SAW, he died". That is what she said, as she smiled. You have to be some make of total darkness to take any sort of glee out of some sort of absolute horrific scene like that. Beyond f**ked is what it was to say something like that, especially when the west had courted Gadaffi back into its fold of allies the previous 5 years beforehand.
At least Biden & Obama had the good sense to keep their mouths shut about what they had also seen. Or else they are a better make of human not to take some sort of twisted glee at some sort of f**ked scene like that. The moment that woman said that statement, it showed the American public exactly what she was, and it cost the Democrats bigtime 4 years ago.

They are as bad as the british empire, most regional conflicts/regular flare ups were caused by borders drawn by them, from palestine,to fermanagh,to kashmir...its largly down to poorly taught borders from british withdrawl

...they create more hassle than they save, the UN was set up for the world police job,in reality the american-led war on terror, which has left 64 million approx displaced, was about oil.....

Same as their pot-stirring in syria arming sympathic movements, which were evebtually subsumed into isis......

Where as trump.has expoited existing racial issues at home that were always there, but glossed over by media coverage of perpetual war....forcing a patriotism angle that left serious qs never tackled

So now the Trump is no longer POTUS, given that he is running out of functional lawyers to represent him and possibly in some financial difficulties; how will he be able to deal with the multitude of legal actions coming his way? He's always managed to escape the consequences of his actions through his life but has his term as president compromised his usual strategy for delaying the inevitable.

What version of history have you been watching? The Fox news one, or the real world one?

Time will tell. But at the very least, I expect any firm will be looking for payment in front or at least the money to be placed in escrow or something.

If that is the case, he'll find someone to defend him but I agree, they probably won't be the most renowned firm.

Anyone else have concerns that the most powerful country in the world now run by a man who is 78 years old, had 2 brain surgeries, withdrew from a previous election when his lies about his education and qualifications were uncovered, and more recently had a string of sexual misconduct allegations leveled at him. (All information from Wikipedia).

Surely there must have been someone more physically and morally capable for what is a demanding and challenging 4 year term in office ?

    Given who he is replacing.

No. Not at all. Not in the slightest.

Hopefully, Trump will live out his day improving his Golf handicap and leave the world alone.

Now you have concerns? Now? Really?

I find that a bit hard to believe, to be honest.

I find that a bit hard to believe, to be honest.

Compared to trump who has a huge amount of

Health issues - obesity, heart disease, possible cancers
Mental issues - dementia, possible Alzheimer’s, possible derangement

    No.

I only read the Wikipedia page 30 mins ago, so yes - how on earth could I be concerned about something I didn't know ?

Where was this concern when such allegations were levelled at Trump and nearly half a million Americans died from covid while he advocated injecting bleach as a remedy?

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

Exactly - so "once bitten twice shy", or are no lessons learned the first time ?

    Trevor Noah
    Seth Myers
    Stephen Colbert
    Jimmy Kimmel
    Fallon

et al are losing a whole pile of easy material right there.

Jokes about Trump wore thin in 2016. Trump circus made satire redundant imo. It's a good thing for comedy, jokes about Trump are the lowest hanging fruit.

He didn't read that on wiki, so be fair to him.....

Why didn't you just post that in the first place ??

    So you do have concerns.

Last post in this thread for me, far too militant and extreme, you can't ask a simple question.

That's not what I said. Having concerns is not the same as saying that one thing is the most concerning thing.

I reckon a whole lot of people in here that criticise Trump don't particularly rate Biden but they just acknowledge than in comparison to Trump he looks like FDR.

If Biden were to incite and insurrection and destabilise democracy I'm pretty sure he'll get the same criticism.

Unlike the neckbeards in this thread that will jump through hoops to defend, deflect, deny and downplay all valid fact based criticism of Trump.

I would like, at least once, to have a chat with a trump supporter who will talk without being disingenuous. It's always false equivalency, or deny trump did something, until when cornered their reply is "okay, so he did it? What's wrong with that?

    It's ****ing tiring.

You quoted a specific point. And are now running from it. That's an answer in itself.

Yes. Running from someone that can't make a point on his/her own language. The other poster that was posting links (that he probably didn't even read) disappeared.

Trump’s base already appears to be splintering. The Proud Boys have turned on him today after he didnt pardon their leader and changed his messaging about the Capitol riots. Calling him weak and a shill on telegram and telling people to not attend any more of his rallies or show him any support.

With that disillusioned base, and the fact that he’ll be tied up with legal troubles for a good while, I think we will see him fade out of the consciousness faster than expected. I’m wondering if a senate trial is actually the best thing to do.:,.it will keep the fire burning when perhaps it’s best to just let go disappear

Unfortunately that is no measure of suitability for the role, as Nixon well demonstrated.

As this stage America needs a mentally sharp, decisive leader, I don't think, from my limited Wikipedia reading, that Biden is the man for the job (if the job is running the US for ousting Trump).

Maybe Wikipedia isn't the best source of information to understand political leadership capacity.

Now Twitter, that's a different story. That showed us very clearly about another persons capacity in this respect.

This is why Trump didn't get re-elected.

Your missing the point, I am not talking about getting rid of Trump, I am talking about running America and getting them out of the mess they are in. I am not discussing who created the mess, just sorting it out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,884 ✭✭✭SlowBlowin

Then your rationale was off. Two brain operations implies that he's not up to the job...? And 78 is in some mentally poor?

Sorry - I based the health thing on this is from Capitol Hills Health Science Advisors:

"The new findings show that survivors of ruptured aneurysm have decreased quality of life and an increased rate of health problems. "The implications for health care from our study are that aneurysmal SAH patients need to be followed up and that support needs to be provided long term after the onset," Dr. von Vogelsang and colleagues write. Unrealistic expectations of recovery may be a key issue.

They believe that patients who have experienced a ruptured aneurysm might benefit from survivorship care plans, similar to those used for long-term cancer survivors. "A survivorship care plan aims to inform the patient of long-term effects, to identify psychosocial resources in their community, and to provide guidance on follow-up care, prevention, and health maintenance," Dr. von Vogelsang and coauthors add. They call for further research on how best to provide follow-up and support for SAH survivors, including studies to explore patients' expectations for recovery."

OK so the answer to my post is no one here is worried that Biden might be too old, no worries on the health front, or any of his past.

Personally I think at this stage America needs a younger, sharper, President to get them out of the mess and restore their credibility on the world stage, and I don't think Biden fits this brief.

I would post this in the Biden thread, but the MOD note says you are not allowed.

    Mod.

    Not allowed here either.

That's been on the cards for a while given the number of times she has refused to hold his hand in public like this:
    .

    or with disdain:

The comparison between the husband/wife closeness each candidate respectively in that video is very telling.

I'd bet it won't be long until we see another Trump divorce. Of course, she couldn't do it during his presidency or his mob cult would have gone after her with a vengeance. However, I don't think she'll get much by way of a financial settlement once we actually get to see Trump's tax records and how much debt he really actually is in.

A lot of negative stuff, such as the tax issues, will come out in the future because the GOP will be afraid to lose more again in two years time.
