Tbf to Ioane that's an incredible defensive read and tackle on Graham.

Johnson owes poor Darcy Graham a pint.

Why would Italy kick it away when a man down

    Penalty penalty penalty

It is a very young Italian team and they do have some very good players, but they’re not playing as a cohesive unit

They need to bring in a proper defense coach and get their 2 clubs sorted

Benetton didn’t win a single game this year, and they’re the better of the 2 Clubs

Things can improve. Scotland were dire a few years ago and this year have been a proper challenger.

They don’t clear him out if they can’t do it legally. It’s like players jumping before catching a high ball, they can’t legally be tackled while they’re in the air so the defender/competitor for the high ball needs to adjust their play accordingly

There's absolutely no chance of a 5 nations, unless someone thinks of a revenue stream to replace five less games in the tournament.

I love how everyone are calling for shrinking the Northern Hemisphere rugby base. If you love the sport you should want it to grow. Italy have got good players but they are not playing as a team. This is a coaching/development problem

There are lots of very young players on this team who could be developed given the right structures

Lucky for Italy there are no crowds at the moment, they'd be escorted out of Rome by a police escort.

Shocking bad, seem to be going backwards every year. At least under O'Shea they had a bit of heart. They have no passion in them at the moment, can't tackle, giving away penalties so easy, poor set piece. People say they've progressed a bit in attack, there's a few nice bits here and there but more or less just going from one side of the pitch to the other 90% of the time.

You just hope for them that some of these young players can kick on for next year. Apart from Minozzi and Polledri (who were both missing this year), they don't really have many useful players.

Long gone from the years of Parisse, Castrogiovanni, Bergemasco brothers, Troncon etc

I get the points about developing. Ita just had worst 6N. SA could play 6N and Rugby Cship.

Our players look embarrassed whenever Ireland’s call is played and rightly so, especially the ones that are actually irish

I first became conscious of what rugby was as a child 20 years ago, watching 6 Nations games. Then, as now, I was told that Italy are poor but that they've good young players, are improving and will be good within a few years. Then as I got older and started reading about the game myself I started hearing that Italy have good club and underage structures in place and just need to wait for these players to come through under a good coach and all will be good.

Yet here we are, 16 wooden spoons in 21 seasons later, 7 years since their last win and with 4th being their best performance. Even with the bonus point system they've managed a single point in the last 5 years.

How long can this utter delusion continue? Another 20 years?

I'm not saying to kick them out, but it's almost insulting to hear the same crap about Italy being an improving team being spewed every year when there's no evidence of it.

So what do you suggest be done?
They were unfortunate when they joined several players who got them to be added were close to end of their career and theyve struggled big time to adjust to this level.

I don't have a solution to sorting how bad they are, but I wish people would stop lying about how Italy are about to come good for no reason.

It’s time to give serious consideration to promotion/relegation between current 6 Nations and Rugby Europe Championship (or whatever it’s called these days).

Yes, for a while it will just mean Italy & Georgia swapping places every two year cycle, but it will improve rugby standards in the 2nd tier over time.

It will also reduce standards in the 6N even further.
