For the less tech savvy amongst us, do we need to use a different google account and a new CC for payment when endeavoring to move country? I see there are work arounds re the adverts, but I signed up for premium because my Father was clicking on adverts and signing up to shite he didn't need, so would really like to keep it but no way at the cost they are looking for.

I thought YT premium was €26pm for the family plan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 331 ✭✭sibersha

This has been working fine for me so far if others are interested. After I paid, I received an invite to another family, and premium been working fine since.

I used same Google account and CC when I moved from Argentina to Dubai. Was in India prior with same details. So no, didn't need to use a different account or card.

I have different payment profiles associated with my Google account, one is in Ireland which I use for GPay, chrome etc., one is in Argentina for YouTube, and a long redundant one in India I used before I moved to Argentina.

I got the email re: my Argentina profile, so I added a virtual revolut card to that profile and I'll switch the payment card before the cut-off and we'll see what happens 🤷

I swapped to the yearly sub from Japan, payment went through fine, yes twice the price of South Africa but still half the price of here...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 657 ✭✭✭keredern

The Japanese option has an individual annual subscription for 12800 yen, about €78 for 12 months - €6.50pcm.

    Has anyone tried this?

Tempted but will wait to see what happens on the 21st Nov (my birthday!!) when my account is due to be nuked!

Just became "Polish" myself, family plan for 10.83 euro, obviously more expensive than my previous sub from India, but still better than the rip off 26 euro from here.

Am happy enough,5 in my house use it and the music app too, worth it for 11 euro for us anyway..

Jaysus you could throw a few bob into the Revolut 😆. I'm still hanging in there in Argentina 😉

If you find a working country and pay for a year, are Google obliged to give you access for the whole year? Or could they pull access and give a partial refund?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,957 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

I would assume they are not obliged, seen as how you are breaking their terms of service.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,750 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

No need for the snark. 🙂

The reason I asked is because I got the "Oops, you're not from Argentina" email about 3 weeks ago, and only lost access this week on my renewal date.

Still hanging on in india here. I think these targets and bans were targeting people in the family plans. I have a single plan and pay 1.50 or so in euro per month from revolut. Probably 2 years at this stage.
I'll never pay the full price so it's either they allow these workarounds or simply they just won't get anything from me at all lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,957 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Oh it wasn't snark - just an assumption. I guess it depends on how they have flagged you. If it's an incorrect payment method you might be fine until next payment period..

I have a family account with India and I have not got the email yet.

My wild guess as to how Google are prioritising who to cull is based on how have/active the user(s) are. A heavy user is far more likely to re-purchase at local prices than a lighter user.

if anyone is looking for an alternative to revanced I find grayjay pretty good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,957 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

I have an Indian family account too. It's mainly for my son, he has additional needs and can have youtube on multiple devices at the same time for long periods of the day. I watch a fair amount myself too. Hasn't affected us so far.

My guess is that there's nothing you can specifically do to recent the Google ban coming, it's just a question of how long.

My youtube is on at least 15-18 hours a day. I have historical long form content on the background in my office (I work from home), and then actively watch content in the evenings from channels I follow. Sometimes I have it as background if I cant sleep. If it's on uptime or usage I'd be in the first list! It must be something else.

I have a hunch on what it is, I suspect it is payment instrument related and which network and which card exposes what information.

Hey guys. Simple (or maybe not!) question. I've been an idiot paying full price for a single Premium account for two years or so.

We have a little one now and I want to get my wife Premium so she can stream her content to the TV when needed, without ads.

If I follow the OP instructions, can I use my existing Premium google address and upgrade to Family? Will it keep all of my subs, history etc.?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,979 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

Yes, just upgrade to family with the country of your choice where you can get it working. Use same Google account, won't be any issues. Everything stays the same apart from the price you're paying.

Brilliant, thanks for clarifying that. Will try it this evening.

Shame I didn't notice this before but never a bad time to start saving!

Turkey payment came out for me today

Hi, I was on a YT Family Plan from India for the last year but I received the email and now I am out. I have tried a couple of countries using VPN (get the local pricing no problem) and then try to add my payment method (Revolut) with a local address but the process ends as soon as submit the payment form….it seems to hang….with a spinning circle on the page. Same result with different countries and different Revolut cards. Anybody else get this or get past it?

I’m the same only it’s my daughter with additional needs. I’ve been using Argentina for years and got the email this week. I think I’m snookered if I can’t get it working in another country because I’ll have to continue the sub for my daughter. The thought of paying full whack for it really grates though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,700 ✭✭✭Del007

If it's just for your daughter then try setting up a new email and try Argentina. I did that for my niece and it worked.

Hi all, I’ve just lost access today to Premium and I had an Ukraine sub.

Really bad timing as I’m in bed recovering from an operation yesterday 😵‍💫.

Im looking to get back up and running as soon as possible but I can’t remember the exact steps.
I’ve a firestick and I have the YT app on it.
I’ve put the VPN to Romania (which I understand is the cheapest family offer?), how do I pay on the QR code without it charging me the Irish euro price?

    I’m also trying:
setting VPN to Romania on phone

Going on to YT app and trying to renew but it still comes up as €17.99 PM? Any ideas?

Just got signed up to Poland - my Argentina sub was cancelled last week.

    I used a

    VPN (Windscribe)

Revolut virtual card - if you don't already have one you can create one in Revolut app for free. Mine hadn't already been added to my Google account

    Random Polish address - I used https://randomgenerate.io/random-poland-address-generator)

    Steps:

Open VPN (Windscribe) and connect to Poland

Open incognito window in fresh browser.

    Go to youtube.com

    Sign in to Google account

    Navigate to Premium page

Add Revolut virtual card as new payment method

    Enter random Polish address

    Approve payment on Revolut

Payment went through as 10.97 EUR after fees
