Interesting. I think I already have a backup payment in mine but maybe if I go and change that and see what happens.

The other thing - with so many of us kicked out of Argentina at the same time, we could probably make another Irish-based family fairly easily.

I got kicked out of India this week after 5 years. My google play store is set up with turkey as the location already for various reasons (Spotify,Disney plus, my fitness pal etc.) When I try to renew YouTube premium it offers the Turkish prices but when I try to subscribe I get an error with "check location". I have tried everything but can't seem to figure this out so if any one finds a solution please share.

In the meantime I have set up an apple account in Turkey and resubscribed with apple Turkish gift cards, works out about €4.60 for a family account

My Indian payment that I've had since August 2019 went through okay yesterday, so it's still working for some people. My sister has a Turkish account since March last year and her payment is due start of November, no email for her yet.

Wonder is it just simple pot luck as to who gets these emails or not…

I had a look through the countries and their payment rules. I think Romania might be a good shout to take up residence in as the Card Payment used doesn't have the caveat of needing to be issued from that country. $5.82 / €5.40 p/m

I was Argentina, got the email. Waited until Argentina account expired. And then signed up to UAE (Dubai) via VPN, no issue. Payment via Revoult, same account as was with Argentina. €10 for family but is due to increase next month so I'll be seeing what alternatives are about. I tried maybe 15 or so Countries and none would work, but UAE did.

Lost my Premium today (via Argentina), after getting the email 3 weeks ago.

Today is my monthly billing date.

I don't think any countries are going to work now. Google have closed the loophole.

Got the email this morning, I just installed Proton vpn trial for 1 euro, connected to Dubai and renewed using my normal payment card.

Comes in at 10 euro a month

I had tried loads of different countries and this was the only one that would work for me.

I've been really impressed with SmartTube so far, only HD rather than 4k (can do a bit of upscaling with my shield to help things a bit) but happy enough, it's layout is very customisable. I'm not so happy with my what I have on my phone yet, might give revanced a go.

Have you tried renewing on Android? That's what I did with NordVPN and my Revolut card and it worked. Next renewal is 18/11 for me.

Looks like they hit the Irish ex-pat community in Argentina as woke up to the dreaded email so middle of next month i will be out of premium. Quick question if you find another workaround like Dubai is it just the family owner who needs to make the change and all other family members will be able to carry on as normal?

Got the dreaded email this morning that my Argentinian account needed updating with a local method of payment. If anyone has a family account located in Ireland and is looking for a member to join it would be much appreciated. I can pay ongoing monthly via revolut .

So looking at the link in the email about needing a local payment method if you click any of the countries in the list linked below it will tell you if it requires a local payment method and which payment methods work.

UAE as a poster already pointed out still doesn't state it only accepts local payment cards so that should continue to work for a while.

I haven't gone through the entire list but in some random clicking I noticed Aruba, American Samoa and Yemen also don't state they need a local payment.

I will try ones of these countries when my time as a Turkey YouTube premium customer ends next month.

So… everyone should just go revanced basically. Its flawless on my android device. Miss it hugely on the TV with no ads, but oh well. Their loss now.

Genuinely do hope they lose a lot of customers in Ireland now with it. Its such a collosal rip off here. The ensh*tification of most Google products is astounding; I no longer use Google search for any proper 'find me something' or research, just quick searches, its all going through ChatGPT now instead. Products/shopping is useless now with sponsored items.

For clarity, do you mean you resubscribed to YT premium via Apple app store with payment using gift card applying to Apple account?

My YT India account still work but good to know alternative in the event it gets cut off.

Yes that is exactly what I mean, it would be great if I could pay by card as it would only be approx €3 but can only use gift cards so an extra €1.50. You need to set up a new apple account with location set to turkey (this is easy to do). Then log in on an apple device open youtube and renew your sub, you then pay through apple so you will need to have loaded some turkish gift cards to your apple store.
