It is tough on younger students but ffs the more people that say they are going to struggle the more they will start to believe it.

It'll help build some mental resiliance. The people claiming this will have lasting damage on the majority are talking out of their hole.

Support the young people as best possible and put the head down and get through this sh*t.

I think most adult people are supporting the younger people as best as possible

But young people crave social interaction, 12-16 year old won't have interacted socially in 3months come April outside of their family bubble. No sport ,no school, no social activities.
For some if will have an effect no doubt.

I cant understand the logic, if it's not safe for normal life to return, how can it be safe for children and staff to return when children are now becoming far more contagious? I won't be sending my children back into a hotbed and being used as a guinea pig.

That's your choice - everyone is entitled to their own risk assessment.

If allowed my 5 year old will 100% be going back on Monday and personally I am not concerned at all.

Cabinet meeting finished there and all predictions are true, regarding 1st March, 15th march and 12th April

    According to RTE anyway

Can someone please explain to me how it's safe to have 25 kids in a room when these new varients affect Children as much as adults???

    No social distancing.
    No masks.

Doesn't matter if it's only junior infants returning or the whole school?

But not safe for the same kids to play outside of a fresh spring day

Did I read hear recently that pregnant teachers/snas are now expected to go back when schools reopen?

Wonder how the proposed phase for the 15th will be phrased and worded. It can't be totally set in stone as they cannot be certain of how things are progressing. A lot of variables need to be aligned for it to progress smoothly.

    No

They include the extension of provisions which allow for teachers and other school workers who are pregnant or in a high-risk health category to remain working from home for the time being

Some pregnant teachers are expected to return of their own accord

MM to announce all at around 6 supposedly so we shall see. 15th is 5th and rest of primary and presume they will say it will be provided things are stable with the first cohort next week.

    March 8th is early preschool

    March 29th all childcare

So really it's just a week between each cohort, not that slow really although in fairness it's childcare and preschool in between.

No mention of safety provisions, typical

It is affecting them and they should be supported through it. But im talking about the people ranting that they will have long lasting effects from this. Matt Cooper show yday was a joke with it.

Its in no way ideal but some people are catastrophising and losing the run of themselves talking crap.

Maybe they did but I didn't read that

    That's the advice from yesterday

Some people are beyond resilience at this point. It doesn't mean they have lost the run of themselves.

The person that said that was incorrect.

Will two weeks be enough between the cohorts returning to show if there has been any affect on numbers/the R number?

    No you’d need 3-4 weeks

No, nothing has changed in terms of safety measures. Signing a deathwish stuff tbh.

I've never heard such nonsense in my life......I think Michael Martin ...along with ms.foley/government are completely delusional. Promising things they clearly won't be able to fulfill. Nphet only wanted infant classes back.

Third level students ignored again. Once more, priority given only to first and second level education.

Can you link to a source for the NPHET statement because it's being quoted left and right as fact here now and I've yet to see it?

6 weeks phased reopening is long enough (8 weeks including special education).

Its my losing the run of themselves to say that the fact children aren't in a school setting will affect them for years to come?

They usually publish NPHET's letters after the announcements so we should be able to see it soon enough. I would be interested in how NPHET phrased things.
