Unbelievable, I wildcarded 5 minutes before deadline with a mad scramble to pick my vice and captain (Bamford). Nicely set up for BB in 26 now, happy days.

Definitely, too much of a coincidence!

    Pure ****housery!

Anyone chance WC and go with Ben?

Saints with no DGW in 26, 3 of 4 of Ben's possible DGW came in, Fulham, WBA and Sheff. Fulham and Saints were the 2 that had me confused on who to get as they had good value assets.

The fume on FPL twitter will be stupendous though....

They've also announced an additional fixture for BGW 29 Villa v Spurs, there are now 8 teams playing that week

Ah that hurts should risked it, now a WC BB and no idea what to do, was going FH 29 so maybe WC just after and see if a 4/8 point hit will let me BB 26

Fair play to that lad Ben Crelin, Im just looking at the PL fixture announcement and comparing it to his most up to date spreadsheet tweeted this morning and he called it bang on. He predicted 11 teams with a DGW in 26 as 'very likely' and all 11 came in. The only one he missed was Fulham who he had as 'possible DGW' this morning but ended up being confirmed with their extra fixture v Spurs.

Happy out now, took the risk playing the WC and now have 12 DGWers ready to go for 26 with the other 3 being Leeds DGWers this weekend. Will likely move at least one of them on with the FT next week and then bench boost. Got Schmichael playing sub keeper in for it too which is worth 1.0m ITB when I sell on for a non starter after 26 is over.

    Martinez (Schmichael)
Rudiger Dallas Dias (Target Wan Bissaka)
    KdB Gundog Barnes Bruno Raphinha
    Bamford Kane (Watkins)

Watkins first sub in for whichever of Gundog/KdB doesnt play. Bamford gets the armband, Im getting giddy now for the 8pm kick off

Think I've 10 dgw now although one of those is Grealish and 3 of them are City so fair chance hardly anyone of them play twice with CL games around it.

2 free transfers though so if Grealish isn't out, will take a -4 and transfer out Dallas, Antonio and Cresswell most likely to give me an extra 3 doubles and can bench boost then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,031 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Paid very little attention to possible DGW, as was happy with my team - turns out I have 13 DGW players and no bench boost available, wondering if should look at transferring out one of the city defenders and getting in Ederson as he's likely to play all the games.

It's exactly as Crellin had predicted all week isn't it?

Some of the things weren’t really that hard to predict. Games involving the European teams and FA Cup teams didn’t really have anywhere else to go.

This is the thing from back when Villa v Spurs when there was all the controversy about it being cancelled because there was nowhere else to go if they stayed in Europe and the FA Cup. That’s why they scheduled the Fulham game at such short notice

Real chance that I wildcard in 26 towards a 27 bench boost.

Lack of fixtures aside, one of my big problems with doing it in 25 was the fact that I would want Leeds and Southampton players in my 25 wildcard team but them playing Villa and Everton in 26 doesn’t make them amazing BB options (important to avoid losing sight of the fact that BB chip is about the 4, not the 15)

Of teams that double in 26, Villa play Wolves at home, West Brom play Newcastle at home, Liverpool play Fulham at home, Spurs play Palace at home and then obviously Southampton and City with the doubles.

Anyone know if there will be more doubles later in the season?

All the uncertainty threw me and I don't know what I'll do with bench boost now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,586 ✭✭✭patmac

Well I only have 7 DGW’s including Dias, Grealish and Cancelo for next week, so I am going to have to Wildcard. Spurs, Fulham and Villa have a short week as well as a double so will concentrate on those.

There will yeah, there are still some unscheduled games and the FA Cup Semi finals will create postponements also.

Yeah I was in the same boat. Finding it a bit tricky to balance things now as I want to try and save my FH and navigate 29 with fts. If Grealish is out would you favour double defence plus Watkins?

I've actually been looking closer at it for the last while, and I think I'm gonna save the wildcard for 30 or 31, I'll probably bench boost afterwards and won't worry about doubles unless they present themselves.

Treble captain is not without appeal in 26. I know people have talked about Kane, but I'm looking more at Bruno and Salah. Spurs are bad.

Not using your FH in 29 if you still have it is like saving up sex for your old age. What better week are you hoping for!?

Yeah now that I've had a good look too I quite like the look of my team for 26. Have cash to upgrade Brewster to Watkins so that would give me 10 doublers plus Raphinha. Considering going without Kane as I'd need a -8 to get him but his EO will probably be crazy.

Feel like we’re in exactly the same boat there as Watkins is one of the guys I’m looking to bring in. A defender with a good double aswell, possibly Trent who I think is starting to look more like his old self and Liverpool will improve defensively I think.

    Emmm, not sure about that.

Maybe another phantom DGW toward the end of the season where

if there are 2 teams doubling (1 extra game) 6 DGWERS could be brought in.

Ideally if there are 4 teams doubling (2 extra games) you can have 12 DGwers
11 starting = 22 players. that would be a base of 46 points incl. Captain on appearance points alone.

    By GW29 using free transfers
It should be fairly easy to have close to 11 players without free hitting
    Eg Son, Kane,
    Watkins, Martinez, Villa Def,
    Fulham x2,
    Arsenal/BHA x1.

Potential gain is a lot less for the for trying to fill up a starting 11.

I would far rather attack a DGW than a Blank GW with the free hit.
It's a gamble waiting on one to be fair but worth the risk.

There will be more doubles coming down the line.

Hmm, I can do below for -4

    Mendy, Cancelo and Maddison to
    Ederson, Cooper and Son

Son's ownership at 51% means he's a must really as he's a rank killer if don't have him - potential captain option as well.

I feel can get away without Kane based on his current ownership of 25%.

Cancelo out and Ederson is to reduce rotation, while Cooper will be on the bench but looked very promising tonight so decent lad to have.

    I’m going Kane over Son.

    Time to climb those ranks!

Not mad at all about the idea of directing my transfer strategy towards Spurs, Villa, West Ham, Arsenal, Newcastle, Brighton, Fulham, Leeds.

All of whom have either not really been that great, or have some ugly fixtures approaching. I have 5 players with a game in 29 now, but I would rather get rid of some Leeds after this week so if anything I figure to have less than 5 players from those teams if I were to let my strategy evolve naturally.

Without any planning really for the possibilities for DGW 26, I happen to have 10 starters with 2 games and 2 FTs to use so delighted with that.

Edit: I suppose actually if there are 14 teams playing in GW26 most people probably will be able to field a team mainly of players with 2 games.

forgot I left out Leeds players.

    II have 3 Leeds players
    Son
plan to have Kane and Areloa next week
and will have 2 or 3 Villa players by Gw29

Villa have an extra double as well coming somewhere so they're hardly wasted transfers if you don't have the likes of Martinez or Watkins already.

I just think that Gw29 is more than manageable without wasting the Free Hit, now that the Spurs-Villa Game added to Gw29.

Spurs haven’t been good for a long time, and we are in real decline which will be rapidly accelerated by Cash being out and now possibly Grealish also. Having Martinez and Watkins is fine because they’re cheap but there aren’t a multitude of options jumping out.

I have 3 Leeds now, but zero chance I hold many of them upto 29 considering they play Villa, West Ham and Chelsea in the meantime, all teams who are more solid defensively than they are dangerously attacking.

Holding/signing players with bad form or fixtures feels like more of a waste to me than using the Free Hit in 29. There is a real absence of teams in that week who have both form and good fixtures leading upto it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,363 ✭✭✭Jim Gazebo

-4 or -8 incoming. Will have 12 or 13 doublers. Probably won't have a more suitable time to bench boost so will go for it. Reckon the CL clubs get some good triple captain doubles before the end of the season? I'll probably decide a bit later whether to BB or TC next week but it will be one.

It's to decide whether to fit son into midfield or get vardy up front.

It pains me but I'll sell cresswell. Have him since he was 5.1 but his fixtures are turning as well. Dallas for Shaw. If grealish is injured it will be easier to get son for the midfield. Ings or bamford out up front. Could also so with shipping out McCarthy but I'll just take the risk with him for the BB if I hav to

Son I might get. Kane I can't see myself buying. He's too frustrating, 11m and he's playing behind his midfielders.
