They are in stores today, new packaging though.
Hopefully the xxl pack contents are still the better German ones?

    Beam me up Scotty.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll make sure to read where they are brewed before buying.

You can hope, but another poster's experience already suggests otherwise:

A note of caution that this XXL batch is brewed in France instead of Germany.

I noticed Lidl didn't stock it for the XXL specials in the second half of last year so likely supply issues that they've resolved by shifting to French brewer like the regular Perlenbacher lager stocked in Lidl which isn't as nice

Don't forget to spend your O'brien loyalty points before the changes.
Cashed mine in yesterday for two bottles of Portuguese wine. Ten years hard work right there.

Is there an allowance for any promotions ? Was wondering what the price of the 12PK & 8 PK Guinness will be going forward?

Be warned, that's the inferior 'brewed in UK' knock-off, not the real stuff.

Still, at that price, I'll pick some up if it's in stock when I'm next in a Tesco!

These new restrictions won't have any impact on the price of multipacks.

So for the last weekend where vouchers can be used are there any deals on crates?
I think Guinness and Carlsberg are still €25 in Dunnes.

500ml Guinness slabs were €25 this afternoon in Dunnes Cornelscourt. Plenty of them there.

Checked the supermarket and off-licence but only 470ml slabs left in both.

I will be buying whiskey in Supervalu - most likely yellowspot. have 25 euro in vouchers. it only seems right to mark the date in some way.

Combo sale, vouchers and €10 off €50 - we'll never see the like again.

None in Tesco Clearwater (Finglas)... went up especially as I love that beer. They said they don't stock the large bottles. Disappointment ensued. Would appreciate if anyone spots them in the area and posts the info!

Hopefully Tesco keep the 4 for €10 on the Pint bottles but me thinks they will change it to €12-€15

I don’t think that offer will be allowed anymore.

No of course it won’t be allowed, that’s the whole point of this legislation afaik. Having said that, I don’t think there is anything to stop them just reducing individual prices of those 4 for 10 to 2.50 each.

Tbh as a punter I’d probably be more likely to buy one of them as a trial at 2.50 than the buy 4 for the tenner. Once I like it, I’d just keep buying it anyway as long as I wasn’t getting ripped off.

As a punter I much prefer to know the individual price of something rather than have to work out if I buy a second one which is on offer at half price , or if I have a 10 off 50 voucher, well how much does that really mean I’m paying per unit ........... and then compare that to whatever is available elsewhere. It’s just sneaky tricks and mainly beneficial to the supermarkets....... so IMO this will probably drive a bit of business back to regular off licences so at the end of the day, it’s probably a good thing.

But not everyone uses, relies or cares about points, loyalty rewards or multi buy offers etc. so I would not expect to see net prices dropped by much, indeed if at all. So ultimately and unfortunately it seems that it will cost the punter more in the long run.

"Gift cards will not be affected by this new regulation ref Supervalu."

Is this a loophole and a work around or am I missing something?

Could be the new model for 25 percent of 6. 20 percent off across the board. Probably won't see it till December though!

No, that refers to gift cards that are purchased which can then be used to purchase alcohol, you can't use the till spit vouchers to purchase the gift cards with. Would have been a nice loophole, like running the gas off the electricity and electricity off the gas :D

It's not the 4 for 10 vs 2.50 each that's going to kill it, it's not being able to use a 10 off 50 to bring to price down to 2.
