Douglas Hogg made that statement on the advice of senior RUC officers. It's not his fault that he was given bad information.

The person who threw the snowball has just as many questions to answer as the person who made it.

Do you think the bombmaker would get away scot free because it wasn't him who planted it?

The man was standing in Parliament he had a duty to check what he was saying.

On this day 37 years ago, Solicitor Edgar Samuel David Graham was murdered by IRA terrorists on the campus of Queens Univerity Belfast
the inscription at his memorial reads “keep alive the light of justice.”

Why is his life of so little importance compared to pat finucane.

That sf leader who was never in the ira and the other gentle softly spoken man famed recently for his wonderful funeral (now there’s a story)were signing off the ira activities on this patch at the time.

The hypocrisy of sf chasing justice for finucane. They know every last detail of the Edgar graham killing and offering nothing.

I wonder did the same republican youth cheer when Pat Finucane was killed?

No one has said his life was more important, Downcow.

You continue to miss a simple fact.

    Government involvement - Public Inquiry

    Terrorist organisation - criminal investigation.

Once more, do you not think that a first world government should be held to a higher standard than a proscribed organisation?

Also, Edgar Graham's case continued investigation until 2014, at which point the HET said they didn't have any new evidence, so it wasn't swept under the carpet and ignored either.

If only there was some mechanism by which both sides could openly tell the truth, perhaps there would be a route to finding things out for Mr Graham's family along with the Finucanes.

As well as there being no State involvement in Graham's death he was shot because he was a politician and had made some very contentious statements etc.

Not justifying it, just stating the why. His being a solicitor was coincidental and he wasn't fingered in an outrageous statement by an MP in the Westminster parliament.

Absolutely shocking that will not go ahead, I bet we won't see much protest from Leo or Micheal about this. Too busy with with their outrage over a tweet:(

I haven't read through the thread, only the first page, but has anyone else pointed out the username of the OP?

    "UDA winner"

Given that they were said to have been involved in the murder

If Hogg had authorised the murder then he wouldn't have done it in the House of Commons because everything that is said there is a matter of public record.

Who said he authorised it in that speech?

Who said he authorised it in that speech?

Isn't that what has been insinuated? In The Sunday Times last weekend, Justine McCarthy accused Hogg of felon-setting.

Actually, Edgar Graham was a barrister.

Justine McCarthy is one of the campaigners?

Felon setting is not 'authorising a killing' it is putting people in danger of an attack. Exactly what Hogg did with a bizarre statement.

72 years ago today, British soldiers massacred 24 Malayan villagers. True to form, the brits fought tooth and nail to prevent an inquiry.
