    Anyone getting Helldivers 2 today? I'm very tempted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,529 ✭✭✭✭Varik

    Helldivers 2 matchmaking is broken right now which means if you're not playing with a team of friends then your solo and can only do the lowest trivial difficulty.

    Actually just don't play vs bugs and turn cross play off, that seems to work.

    How are people finding it? I'm usually a story mode driven player but reviews for this seem positive

    I'm not too far into it but I loved the first game, I wasn't too sure initially when they announced the game and it was third person but the bit I have played it didn't bother me, still getting to grips with the mechanics and mission types

    The match making isn't working too good at the moment finding it really hard to get into games not a fan of solo playing myself but that may not bother others

    The 2 sides of the galaxy has bugs on one side and robots on the other, most players are fighting the bugs so the server are overloaded there and matchmaking isn't great.

    If you try the other side and try matchmaking from a robot planet then it's more likely to get a match, the leader can then move planet if they want or continue on the robot planet.

    It still fails a lot but there is a chance rather than trying matchmake on a bug planet.

    There was a update today 1.13GB so hopefully something changed.

    Cool thanks! Yeah I managed to get into 2 matches against the robots but they are alot tougher than the bugs and I was struggling a bit cos I'm only L3 or something and have no weapon / strategem updates yet 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,529 ✭✭✭✭Varik

    It says in the top corner what difficulty the mission is.

    1 = Trivial

    2= Easy

    For new players even easy can be hard.

    Hard is impossible is players don't have dedicated anti armor weapons.

    Also no more snow planet as the players liberated that for Democracy.

    You buy stratagems from the computer at the back of the ship for R (requisitions) points, and you get primary and secondary weapons off the acquisitions press squared (on PS5) thing which you buy with the skull medals.

    Can you view how much credit you have on the mobile app or on the PlayStation ? I definitely got some funding from the last round of points but can’t see how much I have.

    On PS5:

    Go to store, click 3 dots on top right, under user name will be the balance.

    On app:

    Go to store, 3 lines on upper right, click payment method and will show your balance.

    Decided to give one of my Dualsense controllers to a nephew because he broke his, so took the opportunity to pick myself up a Dualsense Edge. Have to say it's a lovely piece of kit. The backpaddles are a nice addition, and I've mostly just mapped L3 and R3 to them. Was kind of hoping you could map two buttons to each (eg. making the left backpaddle be the same as X+O, or L2+R2 etc) but seems you can only map it as one of the other buttons. Haven't looked too much into things like the thumstick drift settings or anything but will have to take a gander.

    I used to just have two controllers and swap them out as the battery went, but going to have to get into the habit of just putting the Edge on charge when I'm not using it so I can just use it all the time, rather than swapping between the Edge and the normal controller.

    The Edge is good. I really like the nubs rather than the paddles for the back. Unfortunately I ended up with a drifting right stick module out of the box, I corrected it with the settings. I had to replace it a few months ago.

    As for the battery, it's so bad I just keep mine plugged in. It barely lasts 3 hours.

    I'm too far from the PS5 to keep mine plugged in. I've toned down the brightness and vibration in the settings to help with the battery life anyway, but yeah one of the things putting me off getting one to begin with was the reports of battery life being even worse than the normal Dualsense, which is poor enough to begin with (hence why I always had one controller charging and one playing, then alternating). Will not be picking up another Edge though (well, not until my nephew goes apesh*t losing in Fortnite and throws his controller down again but he's already on thin ice for that with his parents).

    Battery life is shocking on all the PS5 controllers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,796 ✭✭✭✭Penn

    Absolutely, just thought (or at least hoped) they'd boost the battery with the Edge, considering how much people were going to be paying for it.

    I got my 3m magnetic cables working again after cleaning the connectors and upping the charge block to 5v / 2.4a. It was a balls not being able to charge and play for a while there.

    I see Sony are introducing Passkey now for logging into your account. Nice to see them offer this after 2FA seemed to take ages to be introduced.

    I did. Just need to log onto your Sony account and you can do it all there pretty quickly. Need to enter password and 2FA to disable the password and 2FA but very easy.

    It's a bit fiddly to log in the first time as you need to log into the PS App, which didn't support passkey, so I had to log in using an email but once I had the app logged in, logging back in on my PlayStation was super easy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭sniper_samurai

    I set it up on my phone and it immediately broke. I ended up having to reset my password and re enable 2fa.

    Same here. Passkey worked in the browser but Android App didn't. I reverted back to password as I wanted to play some games.
