My birthday is in February, let's see what happens!

If it's going by their fiscal year, it'll probably be April or May!

If you're 30+ then socks, socks are what's gonna happen!

Looking forward to it but think it could be a boo-boo not getting it out for Christmas. Fingers crossed for new astrobot game soon after release.

Looks like it. Surprised there is no blog post yet

    Edit, here we go

Ultra-customizable controls: You can make the DualSense Edge wireless controller uniquely yours by remapping or deactivating specific button inputs and fine-tuning your aim by adjusting stick sensitivity and dead zones (the distance your analog stick moves before it's recognized in a game). In addition, each trigger is adjustable with options to tailor travel distance and dead zones to your preference. For example, you can manually reduce travel distance of the triggers for faster inputs in competitive FPS games or reduce the dead zone for precise throttle control in racing games.

    ● Ability to save multiple control profiles: Once you've found your ideal control settings, you can save them to unique profiles and swap between them on the fly. With the DualSense Edge wireless controller, you'll always have your preferred controls for your games ready to go, whether you're facing Norse gods and monsters in God of War Ragnarök, or rival players in an online battle royale.

    ● On-controller user interface: The dedicated Fn button allows you to easily adjust your setup while staying focused on the in-game action – quickly swap between your pre-set control profiles, adjust game volume and chat balance, and access the controller profile settings menu to set up and test new control iterations while in game.

    ● Changeable stick caps and back buttons: Three types of swappable stick caps (standard, high dome, and low dome) help you stay comfortable in game while maintaining grip and stability. The two swappable sets of back buttons (half-dome and lever) can be configured to be any other button input, putting more essential controls at your fingertips.

    ● Replaceable stick modules: Play longer with the ability to fully replace each individual stick module on the controller (replacement stick modules will be sold separately).

    ● Built-in DualSense wireless controller features: The DualSense Edge wireless controller retains the signature comfort and immersive experience of the DualSense wireless controller when playing supported games, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in microphone, motion controls, and more.

I'll be buying one as I loved my Elite on Xbox. Not sure if the front buttons under the thumbsticks are going to be very usable though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,565 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

If my video reading skills are any good, the buttons under the thumbsticks are the Fn buttons for in game access to profiles and settings. I'll probably get one, depending on the price. Wouldn't use most the features but the extra paddles interest me.

My guess is it'll be priced between €150-175 but wouldn't be shocked if they go as far as €199.

If it's built to last, I'll get one for use on both PS and PC.

I'd nearly get one for the stick caps alone!

    I hate convex analogue sticks!

Hopefully the make some concave ones 😊

Been playing most of my games on the Steam Deck lately and it is hard to go back to a controller that doesn't have back paddles.

Will be a day one purchase for me assuming they have decent availability.

I'll be getting one only because I like the look of it 😄

The buttons under the thumb sticks look like they just might be just locks/handles. You can pull out the stick module and replace it (quick fix for joystick drift).

PS5 just got an official price hike to €549.99 / €449.99

Effective immediately. Anyone looking for one should probably try and grab one quick before the price is updated. Smyths currently still have the old price.

Apparently those are the Function buttons that let you quickly switch profiles.

    It's out of stock everywhere.

    F*ck Sony so.

I'm never going to bother with a PS5.

This has turned me off them completely. I think console gaming ends for me with the PS4.

After I'm finished playing it I don't know what I'll do.

You could do what I did.

Sign up for XBox Game Pass Ultimate to cloud stream all the Xbox games you have missed over the years.

Start with Halo Infinite and realise about 5 hours in it's fairly shite. Move on to Gears 5 and realise about 5 hours in it's fairly shite. Spend about an hour looking for an XBox game you missed that is actually worth playing. Find none and play Mario on the switch.

Haven't touched my Series X in months I just find the PS5 is my base console and will always go straight to it unless the game just isn't there. I have a few games I am keeping an eye on for Xbox down the line though. When it comes to the PS5 I bought it day one I don't really care its gone up in price if people want it bad enough they will pay it sure they where paying more from scalpers for the last year or so anyway. I have a switch sitting there which usually only gets used these days when where all playing something together don't get me started on Nintendo and what there allowed to get away with never mind Sony!

I know the whole first party day and date thing is a big selling point for Gamepass, but yea I rarely play them for more than a few hours too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,058 ✭✭✭nedd

Like HSIN I have a PS5 already so price increase doesn't impact me, that said it is **** enough from Sony given how the economy is going around the world.

I haven't had an XBox since the OG and thought I was missing loads of great exclusive games. Turns out after signing up for GamePass it was FOMO and PS has the best offering of exclusives.

90% of the problem I am facing with GamePass is most of the games on it I already have from PSPlus. So not the amazing experience I was hoping for. For someone new to console gaming who hasn't had every PS console then GamePass would be great.

Sorry, I know I have sidelined the conversation from price increase to PS Vs XBox. Not my intention to start a row.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,243 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Its a **** thing for Sony to do but for every guy who decides he's not buying one there will be a hand full who will gladly pay the extra fifty Sony know this. The demand will always be there for the Playstation.

The only thing Xbox has on the Playstation is Gamepass and as mentioned above it doesn't suit everyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭quinnd6

I think I probably have enough old games to last me a couple of years so I can just play them and by then the Ps5 won't be worth bothering about anyway at whatever price Sony are trying to scalp their own console at by then. Gaming has gone to the dogs between always connected constantly updating Call of Duty games, to games that are so bugged they're unplayable, to forced online live service crap like GT 7, gaming is in a very bad state. The PS4 is still getting The Callisto Protocol anyway but no one will know what that will run or look like till it's out so anyway that's that.

Inflation is at an all time high, the dollar is less than the euro for the first time in two decades. Everything is up in price, half the stuff we get in our food shop has doubled in price and gas/electricity is double what it was a few years ago. But a console going up 10% is the end of the world lol.

Definitely sucks but it's one of the last things you need to worry about going up in price when day to day living has gotten expensive. I lost €3-4k discount on a new car because of stock constraints. Enjoy the **** show that will be the next few years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭quinnd6

They're the first company to put up in price a gaming console to a price more expensive than its launch price. The other stuff has no relevance at all. We're talking about gaming here. The other stuff is irrelevant. Don't go try justifying the unjustifiable with irrelevant crap. Gaming is my hobby and it's important to me. It's pure greed on Sony's part. They're making billions. Sony are greedy **** and the world is full of greedy evil **** putting up the price of everything and doing their best to take advantage of people and rip off people with regards everything but it doesn't change the fact that Sony are evil, greedy **** too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,508 ✭✭✭DaveyDave

You can't complain about the cost of a console going up then say everything else is irrelevant when literally everything is going up in price as currency values are in the toilet, inflation is at an all time high and there's still production constraints and it all has a direct impact on their profitability. Their decision was hardly made lightly and they know they're going to get backlash over it. People are acting like it's an isolated thing when it's not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭quinnd6

    Stop defending them.

    Use your brain.

Are you guys working for Sony?

Everyone raising the price of everything is bloody inflation and Sony are adding to it now too.

    More bloody inflation.

They're a multi billion dollar company with massive profits and they want to screw their fanbase, the gamers. They're greedy ****.
