why would you be humiliated? They are Irish but not really, settled Irish people probably have more in common with someone from France or Germany than an Irish traveller.

To be honest with you I think travellers deserve ethnic minority status as much as criminal gangs.

Would I be correct to assume that the above clarification is based on your firm belief that you post intelligent opinions?

Assume what you like Stacks it's a free world.
Your argument, and that of "newcomer" Posh dave with 55 posts and future guy still do not stack up, and actually you are still totally missing the point.
If you have a bowl of apples and 99% are bad, you can't call them ALL bad because it's incorrect regardless of the %'s.
All this other name calling and mudslinging is hate speech, but hey Future guy is a mod and he's ok with it so carry on.

They are Irish, they probably didnt marry outside their families so they probably have 100% Irish blood. anyway it doesnt matter where they are from, im saying its a pity we arent as tough on crime as they are in America, I dont think anyone here would object to seeing con men who trick elderly people out of their life savings being given life in prison. someone like that doesnt deserve frredom.

They're not Irish though. They're Americans. Still scumbags.

Travellers have absolutely no interest in mixing or integrating with the wider community. It is sealed off and that is the way they want it. Fine. It's basic self preservation. I see it here in England with the Asian communities- they marry and keep everything within the "community". Preserving assets.

They made their own bed but as soon as there is a problem then suddenly it is everyone else's fault- that's the hilarity.

That's not really fair, my office in London was probably 50% British Asian, some high earners. Lovely people. I doubt any of us have ever worked with a traveller.

Im not so sure, is a kid born in England to Irish parents Irish or English?

There are Travellers in England who talk with Irish accents but were born in England, some might never have been in Ireland, its because they don't mix with anyone who isnt a traveller.

Well I should have been more specific. When it comes to marriage and social norms Asians especially Pakistani and Bengali are very insular. All arranged. Even Indian Sikhs will sign up for arranged marriages.

Sure you may work with them etc and enjoy their company but like hell you will see mixed marriages or relationships (or very very rare). I have also worked and socialised with Asians over here. In fact about 80% of my day to day work interactions are with Asians.

To be fair, they are nothing like our Travellers.

I prefer the old style Tinker's myself, they're slightly different.
They have a Celtic wild look about them, the women are attractive and men are more like poet's or artisan's, very pensive and they philosophical.

Nomadic in their nature and they're not interested in crime or fueds.
They keep their site's tidy and respectful, they love rose's and flower's, old vintage metal ornaments and love iron work.

Great craft's men and women, they look a bit like the Yazidi people.

Well they are inbred and violent, no need to state the obvious.

I love how on boards we can bash the traveller community as much as we want without having to worry about the mods.

It really amazes me how threads like this are absolutely allowed bash travellers and call them every name under the sun.
But go in any other thread and have a different opinion to the sheep and you get banned.

    Agreed 100% it speaks volumes.
Travellers are the only group that seem to left open to all sorts of unjustified attack.

I suppose it is because travellers are not really a worldwide trendy topic like BLM, Gay marriage, Pro-Choice, Veganism, Environmentalism, and so on. So the mods view it way down on the list of priorities and don't really care?

Personally I think boards.ie should head hunt a person from the traveller community to be a mod. Since I doubt there is such a person already as normally such threads become a free for all and chaotic.

As it would not only moderate vile posts. Such a person could also quietly educate the ignorant - with interjections and fact checking on such threads.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I watched the podcast, thought it was very good. Des said travellers are hated in Ireland by Irish people. you have to ask yourself is there another group that is hated in Ireland? do Irish people hate the polish or chinese for example and if not why not. why would they pick the travellers?

Because Polish, Chinese etc, get jobs, set up businesses, contribute to wider society, pay their taxes, send their kids to school and don't want nor expect any special treatment or status.

Sexual intercourse with a 13 year old is statutory rape.

I would go one further and say its pedophilia. Anything under 16 regardless of the other partys age is strictly off the menu.

Exactly. now I do think that he had a point that they are discriminated against, they are, and it is unfair on the ones who are decent. I saw a house lately that I was interested in buying, its a house that no one has lived in for years, myself and my dad went to have a look at it. A neighbour saw us and came over and chatted with us, all very friendly etc. Now if myself and my dad were travellers, the neighbour probably would have called the guards on us lol

A publican might see travellers walk into his/her bar and say sorry we are closed when he sees they are travellers, now the travellers might be decent nice people but it is hard for the publican to take that chance, if they started fighting and trashed his pub, people would say what were you thinking letting them in?

The bad ones really do make life hard for the decent ones and there are a few decent ones, nicer than a lot of settled people.

Travellers have been a trendy pet group for liberals for year's

Why do you think the media tribe love them so much?

Look at the haymakers being thrown, there is no style it is simply about how many blows to the head/body you can take. They spend most of the time hugging each other.

I have seen some very good technique boxing fights tbh, some of the lads are great boxers. Gym trained etc..

Yes ,virtue signalling but media- entertainment types have always held a torch for what they perceive to be anti establishment types

You might have had a bad experience with a traveller, but if you deny racism exists against them you are in serious denial.

This is why Bishop is such a santamonious hypocrite. Lecturing others for years but not practicing what he preaches.
