There is always whataboutery from the left when this happens. This guy was Soc Dem candidate and is a supposed journalist.

Professional protesters like this comrade are so desperate for there to be loads of fascists for them to fight but the demand far outweighs the supply.

Ah, there we go. Is that what you would say to everyone who lost their job in the pandemic then? "Too bad your degree is useless for the situation, why don't you get a better one before you can eat?" No? So why are you saying that to those of us who were screwed over by academia?

    Extreme double standards there.

I have done everything in this life to improve. There is no more blood left in my bones. Don't be lecturing me.

Because people who lost their jobs had no choice in the matter. Every student can choose what course they study.

Sorry things haven’t worked out for you, but Ireland by and large is a safe, prosperous and equal country that anybody should feel grateful to live in.

It's certainly a socialist, many of them are on twitter cheering it. A woman in 20s/30s on a skateboard dressed in such a manner throwing a drink on a FG politician is unlikely to be "right wing".

I would say just about over 20. Left wing student who is reality, hasn't a clue what's going on but it's still 'radical'.

Ireland and Leo need to start taking security more seriously.

That's exactly what they want you to think

Normally I wouldnt be all that bothered but this was just cowardly, I shudder to think what is the escalation from this if this is given a free pass.

A lot of people will see this as a laugh. What if there was acid in that cup? Without victim blaming, Varadkar needs to wise the fcuk up and have security with him whenever necessary.

Which will cost a fortune every year, as most Ministers and a lot of other politicians will also want security. Means less money for the more important things in life.

Ireland is a bit of an oddity in that security around politicians is very low, let's try to keep it like that.

PBP want an eternal lockdown. It’s Boyd-Barrett’s wet dream to have everyone on the mega dole, picking their arses all day.

So some wan throws we don't know what in Varadkars face and you want a party, likely not involved in the slightest sanctioned?
And the left are the overly sensitive?

What choice was I supposed to make? I did everything. I researched everything. I made contacts, I asked around, I prepared, I pushed myself - everything before ever agreeing to do the degree. There is nothing more I could have done. Then every last opportunity in the field disappeared pretty much as soon as I got my degree, and/or turned out to be complete nonsense lies by the professors. And I was left on the streets.

How am I responsible for that? I did everything right.

Ireland is a country that mocks the hard-working working poor, exactly like you are mocking me. Making it out as if it is my fault. I did everything right.

Another Soc Dem with thinly veiled support for this assault, this time a Kildare county councillor Chris Pender. Unsurprising from someone with "ANTIFA" in his bio. If this is the standard of politician we can look forward to now from the Social Democrats, they will be going nowhere fast.

I wouldn't be a fan of Varadkar, but no-one should have to tolerate (cowardly) behaviour like this.

I also reserve the right to demand repercussions for the attacker, even though there might be other wrongs happening the world right now and I haven't spoken up about those.

I'm quite happy to live in a country where incidents like this are so rare that our public figures don't feel the need to hide behind a security bubble. Long may it continue.

One day that liquid will be acid if the courts don't come down hard on her.

Make an example of her, 30 days in prison for assault. An extra week for running away like a coward.

So if MM has a giggle at it it was a...what are FF?
You're desperate to get a dig in to shore up your leftist conspiracy theories.
Before all the Trump brainwashing, this would have been passed of as 'some student'. Now it has to be a party or movement sanctioned act.
Could have been someone out skateboarding saw Varadkar, doesn't like him, threw whatever on him.

Not all right wingers are tattooed skin head thugs you know.

What did you do your degree in?

No, I will not give that information. Because it doesn't matter. It's not a liberal arts field or whatever you are immediately getting ready to accuse me of. What matters is I have evidence 100% to prove that by every stretch of what I could have researched and found out, there were supposed to be opportunities for hard working, well studied people to get their foot in the door. That was all a lie. And when years later I eventually contacted the university again they told me "you're doing the right things, just keep trying."

It is a criminal circle, one partly funded and entirely defended by the government.

The incident itself isn't really funny - more momentary schadenfreude than anything else - but the overdefensive reaction is pretty funny. There was a person calling for her to be shot in the back as she ran away, elsewhere.

There are plenty of opportunities for educated individuals, lots of graduate programs with consultancy firms, multinationals and indigenous Irish companies.

That failing, go for springboard and learn to program. Entirely government funded.

You didn't specifically, no. You are using this act to criticise a party, for all anyone knows, had **** all to do with this.
I find it unlikely any mainstream party will have throw something in Varadkar's face as a key policy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,086 ✭✭✭soups05

Absolute scumbag. The era of "it's ok to physically assault people we don't agree with" is beyond f*cked up. I hope she gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but I have little faith in that happening when you consider the literal rapists and violent burglars who get suspended sentences in this country...

Agreed. The Two guys who broke my jaw and kicked the you know what outta me while i lay on the ground got a suspended sentence ffs. No justice in this country anymore.

No I didn’t. I was referring to an article another poster linked to, published by PBP which called for an extended lockdown.

    Please stop making stuff up.

It always looks so pitiful and pathetic, whoever does it. The scuttling away, the covered face. It is such a limp dick, cowardly thing to do.

You've spent this entire thread deflecting from this assault on Varadkar by one of your comrades. The only conspiracy theories I've seen have been from your comrades claiming Varadkar faked the whole thing for public sympathy.

I have no time for Varadkar, but I won't entertain such silly conspiracies that he faked it. I'll leave that to the crank left. The facts are the Gardaí are investigating and this individual will be charged and prosecuted. I'm not sure why you have an issue with this.

I'm a little concerned if Varadkar wasn't joking. I mean who sees a random young woman walking towards them and thinks Avril Lavigne?
