Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's a chicken **** thing to do. Where were these brave souls during his time as Taoiseach when they didn't have an excuse to hide behind a mask?

Assault plain and simple. Cowardly and potentially very dangerous. No doubt Antifa scum

It's really cowardly, probably thought she would get plaudits from the left on twitter. Where is Varadkars security? Does he have any at all, if not he may need some if this continues.

Best thing that could happen is she gets identified, charged and publically shamed for this. It shouldn't be tolerated, slipperly slop to starting to assault politicians we don't like especially here.

And I don't like the vast majority of politicians in the Dail, but this unacceptable in my book.

Well. That certainly changed the world and brought about a socialist utopia and we all lived happily ever after.

Who knew it would be so simple...

A lot of people will see this as a laugh. What if there was acid in that cup? Without victim blaming, Varadkar needs to wise the fcuk up and have security with him whenever necessary.

What a kunt... absolutely no need for this carry-on, plain and simple assault

The people doing that didn't hide behind a mask and run away. Where was that idiot during his time as Taoiseach during one of his many public engagements, where there'd be other people around?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 396 ✭✭Open the Pubs

    Heard shes from saoradh,

Using his to highlight issues surronding entrapment and recent arrests of their members.....she to be charged by nightfall

I hope all involved are ok,hot coffe, could destroy someones sight

Even worse if she is from Saoradh, I suspect the Gardaí will be even more focused on this. Not a good look for Dissident Republicans/NIRA front to get so close to Tanaiste and assault him.

Big difference between smashing hot coffee (if it was actually hot?) right into someone's face at close range, and flinging a bit of milkshake onto their suit.

Scumbag behaviour. I dont like your opinion so I will assault you.

True. Look at this video of Michael Noonan getting a custard pie in the face during the 2002 election campaign.

There was no pearl-clutching, no talk of it being an assault. The man himself laughed it off and the papers published their usual mildly amusing oh-so-wry accounts of the event the next day.

Remind me who the real 'snowflakes' are?

Given Varadkar's casual reaction I'm going to assume it wasn't hot coffee.

A lot of Saoradh members were recently arrested and jailed in the North for terrorism and New IRA involvement. 9 of them I believe. It was a joint operation between PSNI, MI5 and Gardaí. Not sure what Varadkar would have to do with any of that though or why they would target him.

If your gonna throw something on someone why would you do it while other people were around and you’d more chance of being caught, that would be idiotic.

Nice to see that some people have changed their minds about the throwing of liquids on people you disagree with as amounting to an assault as not so long ago the same people had felt the throwing milk shakes at same was hilarious.

If it was hot, I'd love to know where she bought it. Some people have no idea how hard it is to even get a lukewarm cup of coffee.

It's an idiotic act either way, whether there are people around or not. Does she actually think he's going to change because some stupid bint thought it'd cool to record herself throwing something at him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 85,027 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

He doesn’t even react as if it’s tepid. He’s lucky it wasn’t nepalm.

Do you have a long library of people having tepid liquid thrown on them to contrast to? Getting really nitpicky about an assault tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,930 ✭✭✭✭banie01

Wasn't milkshake, apparently was hot coffee

If it was coffee or indeed the claimed urine or any other noxious substance?
I hope the assailant feels the full weight of a lengthy prison sentence.

This isn't protest, this isn't discourse, it's dangerous and childish nonsense.

We are lucky enough to live in a fairly well balanced political system. One that affords easy public access to our elected officials, and one where protest isn't a criminal or civil offence.

If one's political argument is throwing liquid on a TD?
One may need to read up on what actual protest and struggle is.
Who takes an overtly "political" and certainly offensive action like that, and then runs away!?!

I am no fan of FG, or Leo! But there must have been an instant of sheer terror as that liquid approached him, that surely wasn't warranted by any of his own actions.

    Lock this bint up!
