Well he was supporting a policy to close thousands of businesses & suddenly it all became about him.

All I'm doing is asking questions regarding progress made in identifying the perpretrator?

A crime was committed. It was caught on camera.
It should be very straightforward to identify who these people are.

So what progress has been made?

If it looks as if it has been swept under the carpet then to whose benefit is that?

It is not even 24 hours yet, there is no sweeping under the carpet it sounds like Gardai are taking this very seriously this is the latest:

“She also had a smoothie which ended up all over my face and halfway down my suit but look I had a spare suit and I just got on with the day’s work.

“I haven’t spoken to the Gardai yet but I believe they want to speak with me but that will be next week.”

The Tanaiste also clarified that he has a Garda driver but no security detail and claimed: “I don’t think one incident would justify that.”

The Irish Sun can reveal a Detective Inspector from Pearse Street Garda Station has now been appointed under the command of Supt Joseph Gannon to investigate the incident.

    STATEMENT
Gardai are also expected to take a statement off the film crew over the weekend.

Following the attack, gardai searched for the masked woman in the city centre.

Officers have also urged the person who recorded the video to come forward.

As part of their probe, officers are also trawling through CCTV cameras from the area in order to track the woman’s movements.

    'COWARDLY ATTACK'
A source told the Irish Sun: “This was a cowardly attack and the best thing this person could do is come forward before the Gardai call to their door.

"No one deserves to be subjected to this type of behaviour no matter who they are.”

The attack caused outrage when it emerged online yesterday.

Former Fine Gael TD Noel Rock said: “Jesus, this is a poxy thing to do, regardless of your political view.”

You have yet to answer what political gain has Varadkar from this?
Highly unlikely a scumbag with no money did it.

I can't imagine there are too many that hang around merrion square with a skateboard and wear facemasks.

Turns out it wasn't even leo varadkar at all. It was his body double who regularly stands in for Leo when he isnt available.

Leo was playing in a volleyball tournament in Cyprus

Varadkar has zero to gain, absolutely nothing politically or personally.

The state has plenty to gain though.

Her arrest and conviction should be sought. Like him, dislike him (i dislike him)... he is still an elected representative, in a democracy doing a job. He works for US.

We need elected representatives, accessible and accountable to the public, for the public... that can’t happen if they are under threat or worse.

What she threw at him was a harmless liquid. Had it been acid ? Had she had a weapon ? If Leo couldn’t continue as an elected representative, as Tanaiste a bye-election needed to be called ?

Of course none of that happened, it’s all hypothetical but it plainly could have happened as there wasn’t a security deterrent to prevent it, or as many as a single Garda to expeditiously apprehend her in the aftermath of the assault on the Tanaiste.

Where was his driver at the time? I thought they were supposed to act as a minder to the ministers.

Haven't read the whole thread so apologies if someone else has posted this but comparing Leo with Ahern and Haughey is ludicrous. Those two chancers were paid employees by big business men. Bertie says he didn't have a bank account back after his divorce and kept all his money in cash at home, who on earth believes that??

I'm not comparing them, but you have made them seem even more similar with that sentence..

Ahern only did that because he's too thick to go the paid-speech-circuit and board-position route to corrupt after-office payouts - like virtually all politicians that enter government do nowadays - and which Leo almost certainly will.

    Bertie is thick?

The lad ran the country for how many years? Created the biggest boom era in Irish history and swanned off before the s**t hit the fan

Was a major part of the end to the troubles in the North

    Made a absolute fortune.

    The lads a genius

Its comfortable for people to create a box. The idea that individuals not connected to any party or movement can act out makes the status quo uncomfortable. Its easier to create a group, assign it characteristics and then attack that demon. See IW protesters.
We don’t know her reasoning, we don't know her politics.

Really silly comments now, bombs Stil going off and kids would still be getting killed only for Bertie and a few other

SF and the rest up the north would never have sorted it, look at the carry on since

Running the country into the ground by utilizing a gigantic fraudulent bubble, and enriching himself personally from that, isn't genius. Despite credit where it's due (alongside the war criminal Blair) with the GFA.

Fraudsters deserve the highest penalty of all - what he did was treason (enriching himself and others at the whole countries expense) - which if the death sentence weren't abhorrent for many good reasons, would be well deserved.

SF and the UUP had a bigger part to play in the GFA than Bertie and Blair.

You can all simmer , there's a Garda investigation underway.

They're on the case a lot quicker than when the woman was walloped over the head and left pumping a few days ago, in their presence.

    You mean the man ?

The big difference between that horrible person you mention and Leo is that Leo is a good person and knows what he is doing so did not deserve it. That other person do did deserve it because he is just a horrible nasty person and I am glad he does not get any airtime anymore. Thankfully I would just skip by a horrible person like that anyway because I am able too.

Leo is a smarmy cnut. I personally think it was hilarious.

I'm a little concerned if Varadkar wasn't joking. I mean who sees a random young woman walking towards them and thinks Avril Lavigne?

Maybe he’d recently sent Avril a fawning letter on Office of The Tainaiste headed paper. The clown has form for that kind of shyte.

How do you know it was a "socialist"?

What a pathetic thread title, jumping straight to conclusions on a woman you have no idea about.

I've discussed this with my family and at work with my colleagues + my friends has pretty much been "haha jaysus, bit much" but still you could laugh and say ah he'll get over it or he doesn't deserve it.

But on boards.ie? Screaming children, socialist bitch cúnt fat obese SJW!!! massive rants of whataboutery and unhinged commentary.

I feel sorry for how down the drain this forum has gone.

    Meanwhile: housing crisis = crickets.
Most of you wouldn't have the balls to condemn the actual issues in this country.

What choice was I supposed to make? I did everything. I researched everything. I made contacts, I asked around, I prepared, I pushed myself - everything before ever agreeing to do the degree. There is nothing more I could have done. Then every last opportunity in the field disappeared pretty much as soon as I got my degree, and/or turned out to be complete nonsense lies by the professors. And I was left on the streets.

How am I responsible for that? I did everything right.

Ireland is a country that mocks the hard-working working poor, exactly like you are mocking me. Making it out as if it is my fault. I did everything right.

That happened to a lot of people. I finished my PhD just as a global recession kicked in and postdocs were rarer than hens teeth. It was really tough for me and a lot of my peers.

It still doesn't justify throwing liquid over a politician though. And I'm not entirely certain what it was supposed to achieve anyway, beyond looking for online edgelord points.

Yesterday a random loonie murdered a smoothie in a hit and run with Leo. Leo was unhurt though slightly damp. The perpertrator is still at large and considered mental. I repeat mental.

All yobs think it was hilarious. Those who emerged from the Dark Ages and agreed to disagree do not. Let's see how the yobs like it when it's done to their chosen ones. One rule for thugs and gobs***es, another for those who believe in and abide by the rule of law.
A propos your last post, (the one where you gave us the benefit of your "wisdom" on the definition of assault,) have you read up on the definition of assault yet? Maybe you should take time out until you do so.

I condemn the housing crisis. I wish government would stop facilitating county councils buying up houses and handing them to people who dont contribute to the economy.

This leaves a smaller pool of housing available for people who work and save and want to move out of the rental sector and on with the next stage of their lives. Plus they will have an asset as they move towards retirement.

I can get why people might not be all that enamored with him but for the reasons you’ve pointed out he’s as about as far from a thick as you can get.... with someone else at the helm we might not have seen us benefit from...

him helping to bring a never before achieved level of financial success to the country...

Record employment... Companies from across the globe wanting to come here and set up...provide jobs, benefit from our excellent and high educated workforce and provide opportunities.

People of the state with money in their pockets to spend on houses / cars / holidays.... and everything else besides.

The Good Friday Agreement... peace on this island after literally decades upon decades of bloodshed, murder and mistrust.

FG wouldn’t have even began to touch that legacy. They have neither the intelligence or want. It’s simply for them about the status quo and enabling their rich fûckwit mates to get richer at the sacrifice of the ordinary citizens. They’ve literally done zilch to do anything to benefit society as a whole here.
