OOM is actually quite easy- dump the whole lot into Excel, do a data sort, decide how many are being brought through- and split the lists into separate exam streams- and then do a series of 'Count-Ifs' True/False statements. Couple of hours work for someone- its not rocket science.

Here's hoping you get offered a role in the PAS.

Sometime a little after 4PM on a Friday- is the norm- so today looks good to me.
No idea why PAS seem to love issuing results on Fridays.

Just got my results, missed qualifying score by 2 points on deductive - logical. Passed everything else fairly easily. Oh well, you win some you lose some. I knew that was one I struggled with so can't complain too much. Good luck to everyone going forward

    Sorry to hear that!
The deductive was a killer! I haven't received any email yet!

Just got stage 1 results. Below is from the email received:

Candidates for the above stream up until and including order of merit 253 will be required to submit a detailed application form outlining educational and career experience. Candidates will receive further information on this in due course to their message board.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 32,278 Mod ✭✭✭✭The_Conductor

Passed, but not high enough on order of merit to get through to next round.
    Oh well.

I'm not sure why they only use the scores in two of the 4 tests to determine orders of merit- it would be fairer to look at all 4.

    Good luck to everyone.

Check your messages manually if you didn't get an email, it could be there anyway.

I wish we knew how many people passed, all well and good knowing your OoM but If you're 3000 of 3000 it's a bit moot

Just got my results. Honestly surprised I passed so that's something positive to take away from it although I doubt my OOM is high enough to progress. I noted they have invited all up to OOM 253 to send in a detailed application. I got approx. OOM 1100.

Got my results and im placed approx 570 on the OOM. This is my first time going for any of these streams so can someone explain what that means for me? Is this too high to progress further?

got my results - got placed ~1300 on the OOM. should i dash any hope i have left in advancing any further in this comp?

Got an OOM of 231, so thankfully through to the next round!

I completed the EO tests a few weeks ago and honestly felt I performed much higher in them than the AO but I didnt pass(the personality one)- kinda highlights the luck of the draw with this system.

Im pretty sure I applied for two streams , health and general but I only got this Oom for general- would anyone know whether we should be receiving 2 Oom's if that makes sense?

Depends really. You're probably too high for the general stream, but if you put down for one of the specialised streams, you might very well be through to the next round.

The reason they set the pass mark as they did- was to fill the specialised streams- they were always going to have far more pass the general stream just to bring people through to the specialised streams.

Just got mine. 53 in verbal and 59 in situational judgement with a OOM of 756. Nice to have finally passed but doubt I’ll be called.

Do they do batches like in other competitions? I passed but not in the first 253.

Got placed 40 on OOM for AO, seems like it'll be a recorded interview next!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 81 ✭✭MaryRyan48

I got 750 OOM in general stream, delighted to have passed but I'd imagine too high for any next stages!! Although you would be surprised the amount that go for it just to practice the tests as it is first stage so you just never know. All good experience for when the time is right :-)
Congrats to everyone who placed & best of luck for the next stages!

Depends on demand from Departments, however, in general, there would be far fewer AOs on panels than most other grades. If you did the Finance or Health streams- you're probably through.

is that for a special stream DDPAS , i thought the next stage was assessment centre for the general ?

It’s nice to have it bubbling away in the background thought, you never know you might be called if they fly through the panels. Does this stay open for 2 years ?

Unfortunately they're only one year panels. Placed 809 in order of merit myself so not holding out hope on this one, thought I did well on all but the deductive reasoning, not well enough unfortunately!

just a question, is it harder to get a high OOM in the general stream or a specialised stream? I only applied for a specialised stream and got under 150 so I'm wondering if that is enough? I'd imagine more people apply for general stream therefore harder to get a high number so if I've applied for a specialised stream is under 150 any good if there's way less applying for it?

I applied for the business/finance stream! Nope next stage is interview so it seems :) the assessment centre comes after that!

As someone who currently works in the CS as an AO, I was under the impression that they usually exhausted the AO panel each year. Various Departments are currently seeking AOs from other Departments on secondment as they have vacancies and there’s no panel to fill them! They’ve even requested PAS to move the date of this panel up!

Just checked mine and I passed with an OoM in the 150-200 range (just to anonymize myself slightly there). Very surprised as I missed out on EO a few weeks ago by 2 points in the situational judgement test. Here I got 70 in both verbal and numerical, and in the 50s for deductive and situational. I was convinced I wasn't getting in because I actually misclicked an answer that I knew was wrong in the deductive! But seems not to have hurt me too much.

Does anyone with past experience of this application process know where they've got to in the past on OOM for business stream?

Ah okay thanks, im just in the general stream so I won't hold out hope!

Disappointed with this - I passed but only just on the numerical reasoning and scored low on verbal reasoning too - did best in deductive logic - very surprised by that. My first time to do all these exams and scored in the high 100s for EO but I found AO much harder: I didn't finish all the questions, not even close, which partly explains the low scores for verbal and numerical and I found the layout of this test much harder, the constant moving from question screen and back probably slowed me way down. I'm over 2000 so I presume that's me out until the next time. Now for the EO etray, at least I still have a chance there. Best of luck to those who go on.

Placed 1210th on the OOM, after placing 55th for Dublin last year and putting considerably more practice in this year. Lovely!
