Very blustery outside at the moment.

can hear the wind howling outside and we've lost that very mild feeling we've had for the past 72 to 96 hours. Tomorrow to Monday are going to feel notably raw.

Seriously bad weather in Cork tonight. Strong persistent gusts and heavy downpours. I’m surprised a yellow warning wasn’t issued.

Seriously bad morning in Dublin, wind and rain woke me up

Rain and strong southwesterlies are one thing. But heavy rain on a strong easterly, is fresh hell indeed.

Great insight on outcome probabilities in MTCs forecast.

This morning in NCD is worse than any of those hyped up 'Storms' or weather warnings.

Awake most of night with it.

Seriously is this some joke by Met Eireann?

Should be yellow warning for rain and wind for Dublin.

I think I might subscribe to the spring starting in February thing if it means getting rid of this bullsh*t weather.

A wet and breezy morning across the country:
    9am
    Malin head gusting 44 knots
    Dublin airport 38 knots
    Casement 37 knots
    Shannon 33 knots

While the winds are not that strong they are from an Easterly direction leaving some places more exposed than the usual westerly winds.

Must be minor as traffic is moving well. Windy in North Kildare and very gusty. Heavy rain has eased to moderate. Temperature is 3.9°.

Just went for a run on the hill of Tara. 4 degrees getting out of the car and just 2 degrees getting back in 40 mins later. Bits of sleet in the rain now too. Bitter east wind.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,070 ✭✭✭✭Oscar Bravo

Dublin Airport gusting 40 knots at 10am in moderate rain. Temperature just 4 degrees

Tell those softy Dubs nothing I say! Probably just a normal day on west coast ;)

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Ha ha but seriously Cluedo its currently 45 knots at Casement and 83km/h which is a Strong Gale on Beaufort scale and not a word about yellow wind warning from Met Eireann except for Marine areas!

Perhaps read the met eireann site before bashing them

Weather Criteria for Yellow – Weather Alerts:
    Wind:Mean Speeds between 50 and 65 km/h
    Gusts between 90 and 110 km/h

Anything, ANYTHING is better than this deluge or mild rainy weather.
I have really enjoyed the cold crisp weather with blue skies (great for walks as that's all we can do anyway) and as Sryanbruen pointed out recently January has had above average sunshine 🌞.
Sunshine and blue skies in January is better than most of our summers!!!!
So any whisper of a dusting or even a few centimetres of white gold will go a long way to lifting my spirits.

40 mm on the windward side of the Wicklow Mtns and 4mm on the leeward side. Snow likely to be piling up on the highest peaks.

Windy but dry in Letterkenny, the wind has dried the concrete and paving for the first time in what feels like months.

This airmass feels very continental in origin. Only 60% humidity and very dry.

Why would they issue a warning for just ****ty weather below all criteria? Just because you don't want to bring kids out in rain doesn't mean the national met office should issue a warning. Horribleness is not a criterion that any sane met service would use. It's nothing special when it comes to winds.
