Great to see that in most countries people are happy (sometimes very happy) with their national response.
    https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2020/08/27/most-approve-of-national-response-to-covid-19-in-14-advanced-economies/

Some of the countries which put the least effort into controlling the virus fare worst (UK, US, Sweden).

Also very interesting to see that economic confidence is directly correlated to how well the population thinks the government has dealt with the virus.

Lol. Give them a few brewing budgets and come back to us with their “happiness” then

    Leo Varadkar today:

“Ireland is stricter than most European countries when it comes to rules around pubs, around gatherings, around international travel. ”

And yet here we are, more cases per 100k (ECDC) than the UK, Germany, Portugal, Italy and almost equal to Sweden!
More deaths per capita than Germany and Portugal.

What is the point of the ongoing restrictions?
What makes us so different from every other European country?

Imagine trying to fight a war with this group.

"There is no war, the explosions you are seeing don't exist."
"We should simply surrender and allow the enemy to win"
"Wait till we see the cost of all these bullets we are giving our soldiers"
"I don't think it will really affect me, I'm going to opt out"
"I was talking to a senior army officer recently, and him and all his general friends are sure this war is a story made up by the government to keep the sheeple in their bunkers"

I got some laugh at this utter boloxoligy earlier.

Those petrified of the flu thats around, begging for protection from the nanny state at all costs of democracy, have the audacity to laugh at those pining to take a chance with normality.

Stephen Donnelly out of all control.

Power does disgusting things to a man's mind.

Democracy is on life support I'm afraid

It's hilarious that they suggest it was only scrapped on the intervention of MM. It was never going to fly. We haven't thrown out the Constitution ( yet).

The fact he suggested it is bizzare in itself.

NPHET's recommendations have been followed for 6 months now, shocking stuff tonight.

NPHET should walk the plank like poor Phil Hogan.

I am not anti-restriction but jaysus, if the authorities start raiding people's homes, we would see nothing short of a revolution. that would have been dangerous!!!

Nphet are an absolute Joke they need to be abolished immediately into a quasi advisory committee with no public remit.
No one ever elected one of them to run the country yet here they are trying to get regulations enforced abolishing private citizens long fought for freedoms and liberties- if we had any kind of effective media this would be rightly scrutinised. Instead we get nodding page readers like Claire Byrne in six figure salaries

Well it is up to the politicians to play the role of what is socially acceptable, they represent the people, NPHET can make all the health recommendations they want and they should.

Yeah that was quickly realised and made aware that it was a no go

The fact an educated minister would fantasise about, and recommend implementation of such an idea is outrageous.

    He needs to removed immediately.

Phil Hogan was hounded out for having a pint with his golf mates, that didn't effect my democratic rights, Donnelly is a dangerous man

Another day of over 100 cases and 0 deaths, another day the case fatality rate gets closer to 0%. I didn't bother reading much covid news today, just the day's total and I see it is more of the same (ie further proof covid ended as a crisis here at the end of April/early May). Good night.

He really is out of control.
Yesterday he was telling us we were on the verge of a second lockdown. Last week, he was saying there was going to be an imminent jump in no. of deaths. Both of these idiotic statements made the headlines in the Irish Times so more scaremongering and hysteria.

What happened to the idea of a newspaper reporting factual events.

Nice to see Leo the liberal out tonight, taking time off writing love letters to kylie and having sleep overs watching Mean girls! what an absolute disgrace, he is as camp as a carry on tent standing up there splaying his hands open to represent honesty in that, " I just read the latest body language cues to instil trust by Tony Robbins" kinda way.. A failed clinician, sure his heart was never in that either, there's not enough prestige in it for him. A pandemic brings with it, hundreds of hours of ME TV says Leo.

This Donnelly lad would be first up the steps if I was a modern day Robespierre I tell ya! I am delighted to see the last few pages where posters are now able to see and express sense without having the experts Sick JEDWARD on them!

That is hilarious that you say Sweden fare worst when in the article you link it specifically names Sweden as one of the 7 countries with a higher positive response.
    Try reading.

I did call it a week ago that they could never introduce a law allowing garda to raid a person's home without a warrant.
Another U Turn from this bunch of incompetents. Donnelly hasn't a breeze.Ive never seen a politician go on like him. I think the power is getting to his head.

Interesting interview with prof. Michael Levitt: https://youtu.be/hrTFXwLXUC8
He speaks of excess deaths as the real measure of risk, on why Covid is similar in that respect to flu, and why the latter is more dangerous, on lockdown and not going back to normality as a serious dangers to western civilisation, and the asymmetry of value of lives, on pointlessness of testing for Covid and much more.
I know it is not a very credible source (YouTube and not RTE;)) but he is very believable person nevertheless (Nobel price winner).

”Where’s the revolution? Come on, people you’re letting me down!”

Article in the BBC regarding the current rise in cases and fall in deaths.. asking the question is it time to move on?? Relates to the UK of course, but there is a lot to identify with

Fans were back at the Edinburgh v Glasgow game in Murrayfield last night... only a small number but it’s a step forward, a step we seem incapable of taking this side of xmas

Thanks for that link. An enormous breakthrough imo. Up to now the media consensus has been impregnable. Constant barrage of hysteria, from the Guardian, BBC, Sky news, CNN etc. Only on sites like this could one read an alternative view. This article should be shared among family and social circles.

Compare it to the Indo this morning with the ‘four more waves of deadly COVID’ headline

There is much more consensus in other countries along the lines of the BBC article. In Rome it seemed to be the general view. We are losing the run or ourselves here
