Apparently Clyne is training with Palace. Another obstacle for those who put Ferguson in their squad with the intention of holding til he returns

Did you mean Mitchell? Had to check to see who Ferguson was.

Ferguson is injured but almost back in training as far as I know. He's been tipped to be a starter until Patrick VA comes back from his injury.

Mitchell is the LB there til PVA returns from injury. Ferguson is the guy who has been tipped to be a 4.0 starter when he returns to fitness. Ward was his initial competition but Clyne could become additional competition if that was to happen.

Clyne at his best would have been good competition at Palace. Don’t really know about now.

I think it's Mitchell's place to lose - a lot of positive articles about him - and at 4m can't go far wrong - looks like he might go up in price soon too.

Hard not to see PVA walking straight back into the team in place of Mitchell.

    Get outta that!!

Is Mitchell a specialist LB? I think part of the reason Ferguson was being tipped to start is that he is versatile and CP have a lot of defenders out atm.

We'll see how the season goes - if you think AWB played one season and they got 50m, and big things are being said about Mitchell...

A Mitchel price rise would be huge even if he lost his place. You could probably have him sit on the bench until WC and not have to worry about hitting 3.9.

Some talk of spurs being interested in ings - would be a big of a killer for FF i feel - as you'd have both kane and Ings

Hassenhutll was questioned about this in his presser before the Carabao Cup game and didn't deny it, maybe there's some smoke there. Would be surprised if he went somewhere where he's not the main man, he's too good to be sitting on the bench half the time.

    Think it's over already.

What is Chelsea and Man Citys first choice defence likely to be this season?

Is it worth picking Alonso vs Azpilicueta?

Wouldn't be able to guess but I suspect neither will be first choice. Last week they played

James Christensen Zouma Alonso (Azpilicueta, Rudiger benched)

Hard to imagine that Chilwell and Thiago Silva aren't going to be first choice knocking Alonso and another one further down the order

Cheers. Hard to decide they have such strong depth there and may rotate several players. I wonder would they rearrange and drop Reece James, although a lot of people are picking him for their teams right now.

Most of them aren't cheap difficult to justify if they aren't guaranteed starters tbf

Is there any talk of Brewster going on loan?
Haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere in a while.
Have him as a 3rd striker with the hope he’ll end up somewhere like West brom or villa (before they signed Watkins)

Wilder confirmed tonight that there was some talks about him with Liverpool.

Sheffield do need a striker, Billy Sharp is 35 soon and on the way down, and McGoldrick doesn't score and isn't good enough at this level.
Could have chanced Nketiah from Arsenal on loan.

McGoldrick is absolutely good enough at this level, couldn't disagree more

A striker with no pace and that can't score goals is of very limited use at the top level. Squad player at best.

    Such a divisive player.

I think hes great, some of my mates think he is useless for Ireland

  • Registered Users Posts: 631 ✭✭✭Gus Ivey

Arteta wouldn't allow Nketiah out on loan I wouldn't have thought. I expect him to get a lot of game time this year. And still a possibility Laca might be sold.

McGoldrick is a decent all round player. Very physical. Good, crisp passer. Good work ethic. Just doesn't get enough goals for a top 10 side. Couldn't really rely on him being your centre forward for the season, the way Spurs rely on Kane, or Leicester with Vardy.

He works hard and can make a nuisance of himself to defences, but he needs to play with a partner up front. Ireland have very little threat in front of goal.

Your mates clearly haven't watched him for Ireland. I was at the home games and he was probably the best player on the pitch in most

He's like a poor mans Bobby Firmino.

They go to all the games. Just an irrational dislike.

I would like to see him with a decent partner

Jota at 6.5 will be cheap entry into the Liverpool front 3, if there is an injury to Mane or Salah.

I can't see Jota playing centrally and if there is an injury to Firmino, I would think that Minamino at 6.4 is more likely to play if 4-3-3 remains. The other option is a formation change with Salah up top, Mane on the right and then Jota on the left of a 4-2-3-1.

lads obv like getting pay rises to sit on the bench - you'd think he would want to guarantee game time with euros next year

He defo wouldn't have guaranteed game time with Podence there. Certainly a better chance of it though, considering at Liverpool he has no hope of winning out to be first choice.

The upside for him in joining Liverpool though is the much better chance of winning many trophies.
