Hey Jim, hows things. I have had a busy few weeks. I am still on the cherry picker, engine is back in and just some teething problems with the fuel to the injector pump. Hoping to get that sorted today, fingers crossed. Also the deep well pump stopped working, and i thought it was long overdue a change. Myself and the missus spent 4 hours pulling it up from 330' deep. Took it to my pump guy who tested it and said it was 100% fine. Jaysus, spent another 2 weeks pinning down a faulty relay that would only work in minus temperatures. Busy, busy, busy. Are you hanging on to the merc.

I am still working on trying to get my iveco Daily mk 2 cherry picker running, which its not at the moment. I am having serious trouble trying to get constant fuel supply to the injectors, and so far I am running out of ideas. I believe the fuel pump is seriously blocked, and even with a strong pressure pump I cannot get fuel to the injectors. Problem is how do you unblock a blocked bosch ve pump.

I am now back to basics ans todays plan is remove the fuel shut off valve and confirm that its actually working. I believe it is as its clicking, but i need to confirm it visually and make sure the fuel way is clear. When i do that i will pressurize the fuel line to the pump, release the injector lines, and cycle the pump to see whats coming out. It was running at an idle , but no matter what i have done over the last few days, it appears i am flogging a dead horse on trying to get it responsive on the accelerator pedal. It just wont go.

I tried over the last 6 months to get an Iveco Daily mk 2 engine 1997..Its the direct injection, no ECU, and no Common rail, just a plain old diesel. No Joy there either, apart from some scammer offering me an engine from Clonmel that in actual fact was sitting in a carpark in prague. Chancer. I knew something was up when he offered to deliver the engine, me keep it for a week to try it, and then i pay the balance, but I had to pay the delivery of 150 euro up front first. So he made the deal so appealing I knew it couldn't be real. Luckily my scammer sense clicked in.

So any bosch ve pump experts out there please feel free to chime in .

The 12 V electric pump sorted it for you? Reminds me of the first car I ever owned, it was a 1955 Skoda, and I bought it for 30 pound's from a work colleague who was selling it because he couldn't get parts for it, and the petrol pump was failing. I picked up an electric pump from a Morris Minor, connected it up, and off it went. The Merc is going fine, not getting the kind of driving it needs though. I had and 2003 A6 sport 1.9 AZF engine, and the sorriest thing that I have done car wise, was to sell it to the Brother in law..who loaned it to a friend, who filled the diesel tank with petrol…story end of! I might move back to something like that again…. no DPF, AD-Blue. and myriads of electronic modules.

    We will see!!

    All the Best,

    Jim 😎

Ha ha, I had two or three later skodas. 110, 110R, rapide , 100 MB, and the Estelle. It was hard getting a good engine, as they needed oil changes after every 3000 miles which protected the softer engine material. So after gathering about 6 engines for my 80's estelle, and none of them any use, I fitted a Datsun cherry engine into mine. It was a great job, and it was bought from me one sunday morning by a lad who went rallying in it.

Well, i have been busy, busy, busy, at other vehicles, but finally back on the squareback yesterday at long last. I am now tackling the left hand heater channel which is much the same as the right. Well shot with rust. So more chopping, grinding and fabbing parts. Pics to follow, ha,ha.

Old rusty channel cut out. The edge of the existing floor pan needs about 10" of metal repaired.

Internal of fabbed up channel given a few coats of brushed on red oxide.
