    I could afford a 6 year old 100km Leaf

Unkel could make those maths work on a brand new ID3 :-)

See him doing the math in another thread

I've said it a few times here (I think) and in person. The math will reveal all. If you've accurate numbers to work from, it's trivial.

For me doing 15k km per year it's:
    2.80 a week electricity
Let's say 10 insurance to keep consistent for you.
    2.30 a week in tax.
5 a week for service, yearly NCT and a tire a year in average.
Depreciation... On a 18k ioniq, probably lose 10k in the next 5 years, so let's say 40 a week.

€60 a week, or 15600 over 5 years. Depreciation is a big unknown, but Vs your 100 a week there's €10k in the different over the 5 years (a lot of play in the numbers)

No idea about loan interest, but again, 10k difference over 5 years is a lot of interest

    Edit:
I know this didn't include the cost of the car. If it did then practically no, you probably can't buy and maintain for 26k. After 5 years it's 33k EV costs Vs 26k in your diesel. EV still has a value of 8k though, and your existing diesel is worth nothing.

Very cheap? Night rate is about 9c per kwh. Assuming a nominal 150km averaged range per full charge you need 100 charges a year on a 28kwh battery which is 250eu a year compared to the 140 quoted.

The capital cost of the car is the biggest cost of a car and car ownership. It cannot be ignored.

Some reckon it's not a cost but an outgoing so sort of ignorable :pac:

Think that is another thread??? It's a bizzare level of thinking and I hope just a small number of true believers that want to be in the right with regards to the saving money argument.

Thing is there is no need. Just say you bought the car cos you like it and no one will care.

And if you have 40k to spend on a car do you really need to actually save money....

I'm not going on a holiday for 2k where you have to buy meals and drinks seperate. No sir. Give me the 8k holiday where food and drink is free. Because I prioritise saving money. Its so important to me. And if you ignore the cost of the holiday its obviously better....

    Please... Don't waste my time.

From the meter on my home charge point I've put 1700kWh (losses and all) into my car from my home charger in the last 18 months. Night rate is 8c. That's €136 in 18 months. I've spent €27 on public charging through ESB, and about €20 on Ionity. I did 15k in about 14 months this year, Covid ramped things down from March. Those costs averaged over 14 of those 18 months is about €140, but most the public charging was pre covid so say €160 for 15000km.

Sure the car outright costs money, though when I bought I just looked at what cars (ICE and EV) where available in my price point, and the Ioniq became an option. Did the maths and it was a no brainer. Ignoring the initial cost of a car is as reckless as ignoring the running costs of a car. I would endeavour to do neither.

€551 to add 100kw charging, bit of a joke

Meh, could of done the car for €39,250 and no option, personally I think it's better to have the choice, that way you can choose not to take it.
I'd only be annoyed if it turned out to be a software unlock

Lol! I thought the 60 was bad value and that the 80 would have lots of the extras as standard but no, the 80 looks worse value.

By my reckoning it's 3500 of extras to bring it near the id4 standard, which is basically id4 money anyways, but with an umbrella.

Got an email about laying down a deposit on one of these guys, and the configurator is live too. I did notice when I clicked into the configurator it says "Prices also exclude service and tyre plan and delivery and related charges of €2,000".
Is €2k extra pretty standard? Seems the Enyaq is doing a ryanair job on extras and hidden fees.

must be all vag group, audi are the same (for the e-tron anyway), 1k for service pack (which includes a set of tyres) and 1k del.

Min spec i'd want (60 + lots of basic extras) comes to €49k + that €2k - EV grants of around €7k?

    €44k?

i presume this is the same car as the ID4? how do they compare price wise?

Not sure what the snake fee is on the ID4. ID4s Recommended on the road price is €42k for the base 1st version. 100km extra range, and as far as I can see, more spec as standard. 125kW DC charging vs 100kW charging too.

I saw that when I drove an E-Tron, €2k delivery charge on the bottom of the A4 info sheet on the stand in the showroom.

It's not like you can not pay for delivery, it just allows them to have a lower headline price.

That said, the E-Tron 55 is a €100k luxury car.
€2k delivery for a budget Skoda or ID.4 is crazy .

all you are really getting is a set of tyres as the service is pretty basic i think, but yeah as a % of the cost its slightly more easy to swallow on the audi.

My configuration comes to €67k +€2k delivery .
Options cheaper than Etron but still pricey enough .
Etron 50 with similar spec comes to €85k. (Only 300km range v 500 for enyak)

What are the grant deductions for an EV?

In line with the vRS ?
Whatever it is, stupid money for it.

Its greed by the importers €10k of a difference for the 80v between here and Germany and the rest of Europe is making the Skoda badge a premium price tag for a company that takes the development from VW. I got the email for the Enyaq yesterday and after specing one up just can not see the attraction over a premium brand.

Brexit greed is all it is or are they going to give great deals on your trade in then

Where else are we going to get cars? Importing won't be an option in a months time. Either splash out, or go back to ICE. With the options available in the "family SUV" space, ICE is looking like ok value.

I fairly well spec'd Karaq (they seem similarly sized to the Enyaq) 1.5 TSI 150 hp 7-Speed DSG (Auto) and a bunch of extras, comes in at about €39-€40k. Few grand cheaper than the equivalent electric, so with low mileage it's a longer ROI vs ICE.
Could probably make it cheaper in a few places too but I went fairly well spec'd to match a well spec'd electric.

I would never had looked at new cars (nevermind the hypd SUVs), but comparing the Enyaq to other similar ICE cars, it seems about the price of them (given the savings an EV can give you). Perhaps this is less so about the Enyaq being overpriced, as it is the ID4 being very well priced?

Isn’t the vRS below golf gti money, low/mid €40’s - this is €69k. Bonkers.

We’re so close to mass adoption, yet so far away.

The ID3 looks like a steal considering it’s internal dimensions as a family car. Hopefully it’s a start of a move back from midsize SUV’s that offer little extra for the money.

I think he meant the Kodiaq vrs which is crazy money.
Hopefully people will see what a waste of money these "Jeeps" are.
