The story has been published in the Irish Times.

But please carry on looking for Twitter replies that support your position.

    It just smacks of desperation.

Fascinating thing to look back on, this is the HSE report from the peak of hospitalisations on the 14th of April. 884 people in hospital at 2pm that day.

I always thought they were separate.

If i remember correctly there was one day the number of hospitalised and ICU patients were both 11. I dont think all our hospitalised patients were exclusively in ICU.

Thats the way I always took it to be but even recently in the press conferences they've just said number of people in hosptial is x.

No idea anymore but I'm taking them as separate

False negative. Also caused by inadequate swabbing.

But it's much more frequent than a false positive for the reasons you outline.

Sorry I meant to write false Negative there as its often a mis-sample, I corrected it now

You know what, at this stage I wait to see what happens next week or in a few days time, sometimes the news is very positive, but then again it rebounds back to caution, careful, rising numbers. What a rollercoaster.

Quite browned off now. But what can I do. I suppose it is the same gig for many too.

Which started from 1 case though. And I appreciate the limited knowledge we have now wasn't really there at that time either.

That's surreal, I'm actually shocked looking back on it. To see those kind of numbers is just eye watering. Almost feels like a lifetime ago.

I think all the caution coming from Government and the media is basically, we need to change our habits NOW and not wait and see in a week. Because in a weeks time it will be too late.
Back in March many criticized the Government for not acting quicker with lock down measures, now people feel they are acting too fast or being too negative.

But you'll spend a long time trawling twitter in the working day looking for anything that remotely contradicts him.

Just back from Killarney after visiting my sister. Lots of Tourists there. No one wearing masks. I see one minibus taxi, 7 guys got out in front of the Plaza hotel, no one wearing a mask including the driver. Drove up the Main Street, fair share of Americans there, lots of English Regs in the carparks, fairly shocked now , no one with masks, to be honest just 2 people with a mask on. Wait for it guys

Nah I just take tweets as equal weight because none of them are 100% true, idk why you're so obsessed with what this one doctor said, there's other doctors on there contradicting him. Are they lying?

That chart with daily cases should be entitled “That escalated quickly....”

First two weeks of March seem similar to now. The fact reproductive rate isn’t as high and people’s awareness will mitigate he crazy numbers this time. I think it will tick up though.

The article does also state "He also said some of the referrals may be down to the use of the app which tells people to contact their doctor if they have certain symptoms"
The twitter Doctor had days with 8 and 10 referrals before Friday, do doctors receive the results? Be nice if he could add information about how many of those 18 tested positive.

I hope I don't come across as being negative, and really hope the curve is flattened now despite a bit of a spike in new cases.

But it all started with one person back in the day.

Anyway will try to stay positive as I have been all along, but there doesn't seem to be any way out of this for a long while sadly.

It started with 1 person in Wuhan. the Irish cases were seeded from travel and it was a lot more than a single case. I seem to recall at a press conference something like 44 initial cases related to travel set everything in motion. I cant remember the exact figure. But many multiples of 1.

I'm also trying to stay positive and hoping cases stabilize quickly and all the media hype and messages from the government are meant as a warning shot to the public to not be complacent.

Looks like France,Spain and Portugal won’t be on the greenlist.

    From the RTE news app

“The implication is that the risk of contracting the virus while on holidays in any of those countries is very much higher than in Ireland. So Sweden, Portugal, Spain, the UK, or France will not be included on Ireland's 'Green List' next week.”

I knew Spain over case increases more lockdown was a doubt

idk why you're so obsessed with what this one doctor said,

Because the said doctor feeds the doom and gloom in some people, then when you post tweets that might tell a different story they then get all defensive incase it bursts the doom and gloom bubble they like to be trapped inside of.

Other than your fellow full-time 'data analyst', who handily presented you with a misattributed source after getting the OP/tweet source wrong.

IDK why you're so obsessed with trawling the internet and posting anything that contradicts the actual facts.

Clarity is needed re the Green lists.

    Only essential travel surely.

Is travel to the non Green list countries banned?, no but people are expected to just self isolate. Mucho Laughos there.

God forbid I'd get a source of a tweet wrong. A retweet of said tweet by Richard Chambers which came up on my timeline earlier. We can't all be perfect and I did correct i yet you seem outraged that the source was wrong.

Nice of you to have another little pop with the data analyst comment, yes i have a degree with the specialist subject being data analysis so again whats your point here?? If you want to make personal comments feel free to PM me.

1 GP says I see an increase others counteract his view and say I see no increase, others say they see increases. All contain equal weight if you take them at face value, doesn't mean these referals test postive.

Not sure what your outrage is about here

Green lists are a crock, the lesson obviously has yet to be learnt then they will knock that on the head.

    .

I doubt it. A green list means no quarantine required full stop.

Coveney has said it’s no more risky travelling to a country with similiar infections than it is travelling to Killarney or Donegal.

Time to do that is now really.

But the new Gov doesn't seem to want to make decisions on what is very good advice and information from Nphet.

I will never forgive Stephen Donnelly and MM if they don't just decide what is best for our country now. Idiots dithering around the Convention Centre.

I doubt anyone cares anymore what the new rules might be, but a clear and decisive message would be good for everyone. Not happening. They are all over the place.

Yes I know about the Green lists, but they need to hammer home that it is not a way to have a holiday abroad either, just essential travel.

As for the non Green lists that's a joke. As if anyone will monitor self isolation for 14 days, unless they are totally banned from entering (apart from citizens and the usual caveats). NO, that won't happen either, rely on self isolation. Am totally sick of all the rules WE have to observe but when it comes to international travel it seems anything goes.

Back in yer bunker you Irish resident lol and do what you are told.

Clear and decisive.... haven't they being saying or advising all along about having no non-essential travel?

I can remember when people were complaining that the CMO was running the country. Soon as the government go against NPHET they forget about that.
