    I’ve read the last 5/6 pages but don’t see any “rules”

    - can you run it on a track or pitch?

    - do you have to be on this Strava yoke, I’m not very technical, I set up my online banking with the virtual help of some Nigerian Oil Minister :)

    Event: One Mile TT


    Date: Saturday 30th of May....any time of the morning, noon or night that suits you. If you're from the AMK school of toughness you might even do 2 or 3. :pac:


    Course: Wherever you want it to be! 2 simple rules (because I know B would be upset if I went all soft) are that there are no multiple loop courses or net downhill miles going to be included in results. :D

    Never one to let a bit of past humiliation get in the way of another attempt at self-humiliation, I'll go aggressive again, and shoot for 5:15. After a couple of years of injury-motivated easy running, I'm finding my self-governor is winning the battle of wills. I suppose doing a bit of training might help. Anyone got a three week mile plan?     Can you explain this bit? Seems to rule out tracks, as the local cinder track would be a good option for me. Could even do a beer-mile afterwards for posterity.

    I suppose the point is it’s a road mile, not a track mile? Different beast altogether.

    Ok, I'll adjust my prediction in a minute. Just did a Mile Test there and clocked 5.38.xx. Went out too fast, probably the first amateur in the history of athletics to do that, and struggled to hold on. I think I had a tiny bit left for the last 100mts though. Three weeks ain't much but I'll have a crack off 5.30 on the day. Getting the pace right is soooooooo difficult.

    No idea what kind of training would help.

    Also, the watches/GPS are shocking on short loops and tracks. They can go either way too I've found.

    Track mile will be harder imo. You wouldnt use gps for it, if the track doesn't have the mile start marked then measure it from start line and do 4 laps.

    You will have wind in your face half the time, people on road will put it on their back if they've any sense

    Knew those country miles would come back to bite ye feckers from outside the Pale some day ours are couple of 100m shy of yours so ya can’t rely on the signs to Dublin as mile markers

    Interested in the organisers' ruling on this as I think I'm contemplating the same venue as Krusty ... not the beer though; even if I had surplus energy after the TT I doubt I'd manage even a single lap after a drink. :)
