    Only after seeing this..

Johnny Cash - Hurt Vs Muse - Feeling Good
Gemma Hayes - Wicked Game Vs Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way

Is that your reason for both votes, I will accept if so :)

    My votes:
Johnny Cash - Hurt Vs Muse - Feeling Good - Haunting tune with nice acoustic accompaniment.

Gemma Hayes - Wicked Game Vs Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way - Wish I had noticed this one before. Beautiful atmosphere.

Muse - Feeling Good - Sorry Mr. Cash i've been voting Muse all the way...
Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way - really love this song, and honestly prefer it to the other one.

Johnny Cash - like a good old wine getting better with age.
Communards - one of my nominations, and I have a soft spot for Jimmy Somerville and his lovely falsetto

2025 gigs: Selofan, Alison Moyet, Wardruna, Gavin Friday, Orla Gartland, The Courettes, Scissor Sisters, Nine Inch Nails, Rhiannon Giddens, New Purple Celebration, Nova Twins

Johnny Cash (great lyrics and really resonate with Cash life)

The Communards (just a great tune, full of energy and Somerville was a great singer)

    Johnny Cash and the Communards

Sounds like a rather bizarre tribute act.

    1. Johnny Cash - Hurt Vs Muse - Feeling Good - Because I nominated it.

    2. Gemma Hayes - Wicked Game Vs Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way - Hadn’t heard the other one before this and it’s nice but Don’t Leave Me This Way is a classic.

Muse - Feeling Good. Great version, Immediately recognisable but so different from the original.

Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way. Wouldn't be a huge fan, but the stronger song in this case.

Communards - Haven't voted much in this competition but have for this track. Really catchy and a great tune

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower. Not a big Hendrix fan, but this is a real classic.

Aretha Franklin - Respect. Big fan of Tainted Love, but have to stick with my nomination.

Ooof. First one is tough. Gonna go with the one I prefer to listen to more regularly.

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower Vs The Fugees - Killing Me Softly
Aretha Franklin - Respect Vs Soft Cell - Tainted Love

Soft Cell is just better (though I actually prefer the Manson cover tbh)

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower Vs The Fugees - Killing Me Softly - Great cover, makes it his own.

Aretha Franklin - Respect Vs Soft Cell - Tainted Love - Queen of soul sounds that bit more authentic than the other.

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower ; an amazing track and just far superior to Killing Me Softly

Soft Cell - Tainted Love ; nothing wrong with Respect, but it probably shouldn't have made it this far, and Tainted Love is the better song

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower [Fugees song is great but Hendrix just destroyed on those guitar solos]
Aretha Franklin - Respect [Have loved Aretha since seeing her in The Blues Brothers]

    Jimi
    Soft Cell

I prefer both to the other two

Jimi Hendrix - All along the watch tower ,gives it the electrical psychedelic kick the song needed
Soft cell - tainted love , always liked that tune

    3. Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower Vs The Fugees - Killing Me Softly - My nomination but would have chosen it regardless.

    4. Aretha Franklin - Respect Vs Soft Cell - Tainted Love - Tough one but I love a bit of 80s synth pop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,177 ✭✭✭Gru

The Fugees - Killing Me Softly -- because it's better than the original imo
Soft Cell - Tainted Love - who doesn't love some 80's music...

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 7,320 Mod ✭✭✭✭Irish Aris

Fugees - I never got into the music of Hendrix
Soft Cell - tough one for me, I will stick with my nomination, although I won't be disappointed if Ms Franklin goes through

No Doubt - One of Gwen Stefani's best performances
Joan Jett - sticking to my nomination for one of the 2 classics that Joan Jett has given us!!

Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal Vs No Doubt - It's My Life -Stays through to the original but somehow makes it their/her own. The first is okay, but should not be still here!

Guns 'N' Roses - Live and Let Die Vs Joan Jett - I Love Rock N Roll - Epic dramatic rock interpretation, plus I cannot stand the other song!
