So what would your plan be?

I'm still working and to be honest it's a matter of time before virus hits because we don't have enough proper procedures in place.

The one thing I would like to see is Health and Safety calling to business that are open to check for proper precautions.

You are petrified of a virus hitting work. Thats the problem, people are in fear of a virus thats fatal to end of life and terminally ill. The economic collapse on the horizon is more deadly than any virus that is fatal to an average age of over 80

Nah your argument said Italy and Spain were stricter than Ireland. A few posters rubbished that argument. Now you retort with this about wanting pubs open

One poster tried to rubbish that argument. He was wrong.

It has to be said again, it will be years before we know any long term effect of this virus to the human body.

They really, really should have released and announced that document before that speech.

Those phases, and the steps within them are decent, wouldn't agree with the placement of all of them, but ok.
The problem is the length of time between them - 3 weeks is crazy.

The info in that document could have been relayed in a much more hopeful and encouraging way.
Still feel awful about the length of time, but there IS a plan to get back to pretty much everything being in operation. That is not the impression the speech gave.

Yes the three weeks is a big problem and overly cautious

We’re promised 100k tests per week by 18th May and the new tracing system in place too

Neither of those will be delivered by then and this is the reason for the three week between phases

We’re going to just play the wait and see game from now til August.

It’s an awful state of affairs.

Where did I say I was petrified???

So it's ok if I get virus in work and pass it to unknowing to someone as long as they,re terminally ill or end of life?

Can no one else die from it? I wonder what illness the 2 health care workers in at Luke's hospital suffered from

    Interesting.

Can you provide a link to the peer reviewed scientific papers that say this is the case?

yes, I have posted it a million times before and you will just go ahead and ignore it again.

Didn't know that but it's very welcome.

Having a caretaker government in power is very scary. FG only got the 3rd most votes in the last election. They might be in opposition for 10 years at least.

Do they care about tanking the economy?

I’m terrified of the economic ruin ahead. Couldn’t give a toss about Covid.

The distance rules are incredibly unclear. Up til now its been 2km for excercise. Now its 5km then 10km then 20km for "Exercise or a drive"

However in phase 1, you can meet friends or family outdoors. Does this mean I can drive 25km to see my brother and stand in his garden but I can't walk more than 10km? So confusing.

My partner is 16km away. Am I allowed gather with her outdoors or is she too far away? As usual no clarity whatsoever.

Up to this point the " lockdown " was pushed out by every 2 weeks .
The 5 stages are going to be 3 weeks apart .
This is a major mistake .
The 5 stages should be only 2 weeks apart from each other .
This would have meant country reopening on 27 th July .
5 weeks in summertime would mean a huge DIFFERANCE to businesses .

Hardly a major mistake, mere logic based on the viral progression timelines.

Construction sites to open up on the 18th

    Is that correct?

Were there any specifics given as to why we're waiting a further 14 days to start this 5 stage plan?

maybe if you did contact Covid then you might think differently about it, thats if you live to tell your story...

Couldn’t give a toss about Covid.

This is the attitude that prompts the restrictions.

It’s quite clear. No unnecessary journeys over 5k until June 8th, after that it moves to 20k

The limit was for exercise and still is, how are people still unaware of this?

No it's not? Is everyone allowed to travel 50km to see a friend. No.

It will be worse now. People are sick of this rubbish.
It’s mainly killing people in care homes. Practically no threat of dying if you’re under 70

And if you dont die but pass to a family member who does. What would you think then?

    Worth the chance still?

I wonder if things are going better than expected could they push ahead with some phases? I don’t know.. it’s not good but it’s not the worst news either. At least we have some idea when things will start to relax. Seeing it in black and white is kind of grim though. But sure look. At least we can start to see family on the 18th so I’m grateful for that.

Thank you for the smug emoji in response to me wanting some clarity, and the other poster whos comments have now been deleted. I live alone and haven't seen anybody since the beginning of March, including my mother who had a stroke 10 days ago. Apologies for asking for clarity on whether I could see my partner in her garden for a bit of comfort.

What's the story on meeting family 50km-100km away?

Will the news laws still be implemented by gardai after 18th?

And the other vulnerable people you'd pass it on to while you're out and about with your new found freedom?
