Can't really understand the logic for McDonalds closing. One would imagine that their Drive-Thru system would be an ideal set-up for the current situation. Especially if they insisted on contactless payments only.

Imagine if someone working in takeaway not just Mc Donalds is infected with covid19, No symptoms for 2 weeks. Scary.

Cobblestone's stopped the middle of last week. Sexton's are still doing deliveries/collections (though not on Mondays)

Would anyone not be a bit paranoid about getting a take-away at all? What if someone coughed on your food, or it was on their hands as they were packing your food....it apparently can live on cardboard.

No point rushing it along though , or rushing it along for the next person you come in contact with .

I've been avoiding any kind of take away since this started. I'm just too paranoid. I miss burritos :(

Speaking of, I think Boojum are still open also for pickup and delivery.

The queue in the McDonald's drive through in Jetland earlier when I passed was massive.

I've seen the pictures of the Qs in McDonalds in Limerick and the UK. Drivethru so social distancing but what's the panic buying McDs about?

An estimated 24 hours within laboratory conditions.

The desperation for takeaways is eye opening. I wouldn't go near one right now.

    Elsewhere includes the local takeaway.

The virus can stay alive for a period of time on animated objects. Up to 24 hours on cardboard.

    Will find it later.

So you are saying that the coronavirus magically becomes inactive once it lands on an object?

How long can the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 survive on surfaces?

A recent study found that the COVID-19 coronavirus can survive up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard, and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel. The researchers also found that this virus can hang out as droplets in the air for up to three hours before they fall. But most often they will fall more quickly.

I didn’t suggest anything of the sort, there’s so much bullshít being posted about coronavirus of late that I was just looking for a source of the original assertion (which wasn’t you btw)

We all need to be vigilant. Assume you have the virus and that all objects are infected.

    We can't drop the ball.

Can I assume that many of you are snorting stuff off your takeaway containers?

The virus won't go through your skin, and it is easily broken up with soap, and in the event that it ends up on your stomach it will be dismantled by digestive juices.

Wash your hands, eat with utensils, tip your delivery driver well if you can.

Believe it or not, local people work and eat in Burger King. And it would be much easier to apply social distancing in a large Burger King restaurant than it would be in the tiny Golden Grill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,067 ✭✭✭✭fryup

yes, but we can't survive without the golden grill's fish n'chips, its a scientific fact
