    What nonsense are you spouting?

Zero chance of a vaccine in 2020 now.

There never was going to be any large rollout in 2020.

Secondly its a standard procedure. Goes to show people who were safety conscious that no short cuts are being taken.

The spokesperson described the pause as “a routine action which has to happen whenever there is a potentially unexplained illness in one of the trials, while it is investigated, ensuring we maintain the integrity of the trials.” The spokesperson also said that the company is “working to expedite the review of the single event to minimize any potential impact on the trial timeline.”

An individual familiar with the development said researchers had been told the hold was placed on the trial out of “an abundance of caution.”

I'm still confident that one will be approved in 2020

I'm fully wise to your agenda and prepared to deal with you as necessary.

Many more are awake than you realise.:o

Yep proof that care in the community is failing for some people alright.

You're just making stuff up now. There were no SARS 1 vaccines.

    Thank GOD!

Why so relieved when you said you’re not taking it anyway. Is it the thought of the virus being potentially eradicated that bothers you?

The SARS vaccine ran out of funding once the virus die out.

    Ehhh?

How did Oxford get the head start?

Many vaccines were developed for Sars, many failed ones

BBC reporting that the investigation should be completed in a few days

utter crap. It died out before anyone could get any sort of trials on the level we see now.

As a result no funding but plenty of work put in

Didn't they just lose funding because the virus died out? Not the same as them "failing"

Let's not forget this is the second pause due to an adverse reaction so safety is number one concern.

First pause only lasted a few days as vaccine wasn't found to be the cause.

Like i said BBC reporting investigation expected to be completed in a few days

    Your annoying, honestly

Early Sars and Mers vaccines showed signs of ADE

Read up on it, I'm not making it up, it's there

Alot of researchers have warned Covid19 vaccine could cause ADE, low risk, but possible

Oxford vaccine hasnt looked great since May when they released data in the monkeys only getting partial immunity ( still got sick ) and evidence the vaccine didnt stop you infecting others

Lets not pretend its been perfect sailing throughout

    Hope its not ADE btw

The fact they’re pausing the entire trial for 1 adverse event shows how serious they’re taking the safety

When you plan on vaccinating 6 billion people and some can't take a paracetamol without flaring up, you can see the issues they face

    Also reported here
    https://www.statnews.com/2020/09/08/astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine-study-put-on-hold-due-to-suspected-adverse-reaction-in-participant-in-the-u-k

They are obviously doing things properly and the investigation will show what is going on.

Reuters is reporting the volunteer has transverse myelitis, expected to recover:

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-astrazeneca/astrazeneca-puts-leading-covid-19-vaccine-trial-on-hold-over-safety-concern-idUSKBN25Z392

Could be a number of reasons for it, including none at all:

    https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/transverse-myelitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20354726

I can see why they halted the trial, myeline autoimmune attacks (GBS) sometimes happen from just about any vaccine out there, also the wild type viral infections can cause it. If the Reuters source is accurate, it's not ADE.

From reading about this, the biggest issue they are going to face is trying to find out whether this was caused by a reaction to the vaccine, or happened for some other reason. Which is presumably why they are going through their data and the data from all the other trials. When you've tens of thousands of people taking part in trials, things will happen.

The only good thing is that there are going to be lots of experts on transverse myelitis around later today, so we're sorted.

I don't claim to be an expert.

Go on tell us what you've googled about myelitis, I know you're dying to tell us.
