Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was Flanders. It was the first thing I thought of when I heard neighbour. Good Job Levar! I had a horrible moment of panic when I didn't get the other clues at first. I thought I had done it wrong.

....Flanders was the other option I considered going with. So even if you didn't know the Totoro reference I still chose the right one, as there would have only been two clues otherwise.

    Yes, just the one guess.

If you want to put it in bold so I know it's your guess then you can:)

Ok I'm just gonna guess because honestly .. James and Saturn.. like what the heck is that?!?!

Right my thinking is the following....

    James : James Bond

    Saturn : Rings of Saturn.

Something to do with rings... Wedding ring? Gold ring on your finger... Tie that in with bond....

    GUESS: GOLDFINGER.

    Unfortunately that is incorrect.

    The correct answer was: Peach

The duplicated clue you missed out on was: Princess

Which may have helped you a little more I think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭Reberetta

    Good guess Builebeag.

    I thought it was giant.

Giant planet. James and Giant Peach.

Awww yep princess would have helped. I LOVE MARIO! James and the giant peach then. Doh. What's the Saturn about though guys?

Also I'm so sorry! I failed you all!!! :(

Unlucky Buile, my clue was princess. I was just going go fruit but thought it might duplicate.

For the 2 clues you had, that was a brilliant guess you put together.

I thought that one was sun.

I was thinking Jameson and the sun of Saturn.

I wouldn't have got that one. I just Googled. I'd never heard of a Saturn Peach before.

For the rest of the clues I actually have a very good completion rate.

Just 6 people have yet to send on their remaining 7 clues.

Thanks for that folks, means we can likely keep this running at the same rate :)

Did you ever figure out what Tile was? Guessed it was Orange from the rest of the clues, but Tile had me baffled.

Think it just means that at least one of your fellow team-mates submitted the same clue, so it gets removed because your guesser only gets clues that aren't duplicated.

So either all four of you gave the same clue, or two of you gave one "same" and the other two gave a different "same".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,681 ✭✭✭✭Deja Boo

so she gets no clue...at all? ...seems odd.

Its the thing that makes the game interesting.

Essentially it means the Cluers are playing Peehs against the other players on their team, to avoid duplicating clues so that their guesser won't be left with nothing, which will ultimately make the clues more obscure for the guessers.

Exactly, so the cluers really need to stay away from the easy enough clues as more than likely someone else will be thinking the same.

It makes giving the clues a game in itself and then hoping that the guesser has enough knowledge to put the obscure clues together.

I actually live this game :pac: wouldnt wish guessing in anyone though :D

Good stuff G&R - Was hoping Tile wouldn't throw you off - interested to see what that meant myself too. I offered up Citrus in the hope that it wouldn't duplicate - My first thought was Fanta but I thought it might be too obvious

Once LadySkunk miraculously pulls the answer from thin air* we can discuss what went wrong. Probably good to do that before we all submit the rest of the clues, in case we get a feel for the way we're each playing. I'm going to hazard a guess that I matched Shelly, and Deja and Duffers matched :p

*or passes, of course. But I'm aware of what I said about that :pac:

All the rest should go in now, I presume Necro was allowing the first by itself while we all got used to the game

So far Necro, great game! Despite our team getting savaged in the first round :p

That's it exactly, once I update the spreadsheet this eve I think I'm only waiting on 4 people for all clues anyways, possibly less.

I'm glad it's being well received so far, pace is probably a bit slow but I think that's fair given the number of players and letting them have a chance to submit clues/guesses.

To be fair to LadySkunk, she's got a lot to consider - The Oxford English Dictionary contains entries for 171,476 words :pac:

Really? I think its great fun being the guesser. Having to decipher the clues is a blast, and giving the guess in thread instead of via PM with everyone watching is a bit of a rush too. If we play again, it would be nice to give cluer a try, but think guesser is much more my style.

FYI, Homer's Trigger-Happy Rebels and Mollywood Stars, if I end up in the same position as LadySkunk at any stage with no clues to work with, my intention is to take a stab in the dark and pluck an answer out of thin air. Go big or go home, right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,412 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Shall we take it as read that Skunkers is passing?

I'd quite like to know who clued what before submitting my remaining clues, but I'm aware I may be holding everything up

To avoid the situation Skunk finds herself in, can teams decide among themselves that one will pick an obvious clue and three will pick obscure ones? Or is that cheating?

Of course what might be obscure to some might be obvious to others and vice versa. So no guarantee that there won't still be duplicates. But maybe it's a strategy that could work.

Maybe something mods could look at in future games. I have the idea of doing a rotating guesser if I ever run one of these.
