    Hi folks

    So this is the story:

Last Sunday I applied for a renewal of my passport online with the Online Passport Service from the DFA.

Everything went smooth and fast, Sunday evening applied, Monday status changed to Printing and at the end of the day it already said Dispatched with a nice tracking number from AN Post.

I live in Spain and it has to be sent here but how come it has not updated yet?

I was always used that the ANPost system would update it the same day once it passes a first scan.

Just these things like this make me nervous as its a very important document.

So now we are 4 days further and still impossible to to track it.

Since then as it's not possible to track my passport I have called First An Post who told me they did not get the passport yet as else it would have been scanned.

Then called DFA they say it must be An Post.

Waited again and today called again first An Post, they gave some story that it must be a back log in the Passport Service their mailroom.

And that they for sure won't have the passport yet else it would have been scanned.

    Then called the DFA AGAIN!

Who say that the mailroom story is nothing he ever heard before?

Ok I understand it updated to dispatched on Monday evening, but as far as I can remember it should have been in the tracking system by now after 3 days.

It just makes me crazy nervous to know such a sensitive document is missing in action, and nobody can clarify nothing.

In the meantime my passport that I still have is now cancelled they told me at the DFA so im stuck here in Spain without a valid Passport.

For the curious folks here the tracking I was provided by the DFA on the Status page: RY221568035IE

I have put the tracking number in any parcel tracking scanner there is and nothing!

but what makes me sick is just the way at the DFA and AnPost they really don't even bother with the issue that something as sensitive as this it missing and should have already been available in the system.

    Thanks

Apologies if this was asked earlier in the thread but who is responsible if An Post got a package from a UK seller sent by Royal Mail on 25 Feb, but it's still not delivered to the buyer even after Customs Duty was paid to An Post weeks ago.

Is it up to the seller to refund/replace and then follow up with An Post? Seller says they tracked the package and it arrived in Dublin and they're not responsible. Do An Post refund the C.Duty?

If u didnt receive your goods the seller should refund you.

They can deal with who they used to get reimbursed I think

I am awaiting a package being sent from the Netherlands with Post NL. It has been in transit to country of destination (Ireland) for over a week now so I am just wondering is this normal. I had imagined it would take much less than a week for a package to get to Ireland from The Netherlands. I have copied the last tracking updates below. If this is normal would anyone know how much longer I should expect to wait?

05-04-2022 16:59 The item is on transport to the country of destination

02-04-2022 08:19 The item is at the PostNL sorting center

Ordered an item from Aliexpress at the end of March. Got a text on Thursday about Customs charges (which I expected) and paid them, no update on the package since. Should I be concerned there's not even a scan saying they have the parcel in D12?

    21 April 2022 17:56

Custom charges have been paid. Your item will be processed and delivered to you as soon as possible. Please hold tight while we work through high volumes.

    21 April 2022 17:42

Your item is in Ireland. A customs charge has been applied and details have been sent to you. You can pay the fee on our website, or at your local Post Office.

I must be lucky; I have two parcels that left the export center in Germany on Friday early morning.

Parcel #1 was received in the early hours yesterday in Dublin and Parcel #1 was received late last night. I got the "Your delivery was received by An Post in" and that was it.

No further scans since than until this morning "out for delivery" out here in Cork.

Send from Germany on Thursday and here Wednesday, not the 3-4 days DHL claimed but still not too bad.

Has anyone recently received a parcel from Eastern Europe (inside EU)? Waiting for one from Slovakia and it left the country 8 days ago. Still no sign in Dublin.

An Post says they've got no record of my small packet. Should take about 7 to 10 working days to arrive from Bratislava so I'm hoping it appears next week...

Yes I've returned stuff to amazon and it seemily goes into a blackhole in an post and never gets scanned again and goes all quite, usually though if you speak to customer service they'll refund you, because you've done you're part and sent it back! Depends on value of item too. Just speak to customer service, they'll either refund right away or tell you to wait 14 days or so

So with An Post letters and packages coming from ROI address to another ROI address taking well over a week, that is a fceking disgrace

Is anyone else having issues this happening over the last few months: Your post has been sent to the wrong delivery office

I live in Dublin have had packages wrongly sent to Dublin 1, Little Island (Cork) and Waterford so far this year. That's 3 out of a total of 5 tracked packages An Post have delivered to me since April. For all I know it's happening with untracked letters also as some have definitely taken longer than they should have.

Is there something wrong with An Post's automated sorting system? Dublin I would get somewhat, but how do they end up in different counties?

Folks any idea how long the wait is from paying An Post the VAT and handling Fee for goods ordered from outside EU to An Post delivering.

Paid for my charges on their online portal a week and 3 days ago , received receipt of payment but still waiting on delivery

I got my post on Monday having paid the customs and admin fee online on Friday morning.

On another note, posted a return to Amazon(Portlaoise) on Thursday morning and it's still there now. Not sure if they have not updated it but normally it's pretty accurate.

Great stuff, an post. I just had to send in a small pile of original documents over from America (marriage cert, my daughter's birth cert, and my own long form birth cert) to the DFA in Dublin for my daughter's passport application... which is currently sitting with that infamous "Your item departed a transfer airport in DUBLIN, IRELAND" for the last fortnight. Fingers crossed they don't lose it, otherwise I need to order a new birth cert for myself from home, which will take ages, then have to send it all back in again.

    Sake!

That usually means that it has been handed over to an airline to transport to Ireland, but they haven't updated their tracking. Its probably not in Dublin yet,

Nice one. Honestly, I'm kicking myself for sending it "normal airmail" with tracking. Weird too, when I send Christmas cards and the like they're there in a fortnight, this has been pushing a month and is just an envelope as well. It's like adding the tracking holds it up.
