Wild for most of the night in west Kerry - still very windy now - trees bending and waving around. No sign of anything easing - as squally as ever. No rain at present.

Beautiful blue skies here in Dublin this morning but windy. Don’t know what rain fell overnight but roads and footpaths dry this morning. Presumably the wind has dried the ground quite quickly.

Totally get the need for some rain but having been out running in that this morning enough already! Wild wet cool. Flowers and garden furniture blown over don’t want to see a morning like it until about October!

Garden was wrecked this morning after waking up. One of my hedges was badly damaged by the wind!! And it survived Ophelia, and countless winter storms over the years. East Cork.

Max gust 90kph in West Mayo but fairly consistent all night. Rain has been relentless since yesterday with little breaks between the heavy showers.

Gusting consistently over 40 knots here. The Atlantic, having abandoned us for the last 6 weeks or so, has burst in the door like a raging drunk.

Badly needed rain and wind last night in Leitrim.
But what was more interesting was at 2.20am we awoke to what sounded like a jet engine starting up outside the house. Lasted about 2 or 3 minutes. The noise was unbelievable.

Gusting 77kmh SW here in Arklow in last 10 minutes

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,979 ✭✭✭Slashermcguirk

Crikey very little. Our garden badly needs some rain, thought we might get more than what fell last night and the wind has quickly dried everything. Week ahead looks very dry too in the east

Gusting to about 76km/h here in cork city now. Sounds a lot stronger with the leaves in full tree! Leaves everywhere!

Wet and wild in Castlebar, we have had a max gust of 114 km/hr so far and Newport had one of 119 km/hr earlier, currently 500 houses without power.

My biggest concern with these winds is that like a similar event back in the early 10s, that the now budding green leaves will be turned black once again and leave us with another colourless summer ahead, just as we are coming out of what was a colourless winter and spring.

It’s a nasty morning here very wild and wet.

122kph gusts here just outside Newport, Mayo. Looks like a high end yellow for here at least.

    10am
    Belmullet gusting 53 knots
    Mace head gusting 53 knots.

Lots of power out across Mayo along with various roads closed due to fallen trees.

Huge amounts of leaf loss here in South Dublin, the ground is like autumn with the amount of them.

Loads of leaves on the ground here too in cork city. Seems to have gotten even gustier in the last hour, think it's just less time between the gusts!

Not a pleasant morning here in Meath, ground is drying out and the sun is coming out but it's very windy and cool.

Now that we've had our rain and far too much wind, another month of dry, settled and warm weather please! The majority of the next 7 to 14 days looks largely dry thankfully, especially in the east.

Pretty much a country wide yellow wind warning from met eairann.

Next week is looking less dry for those of us away from the east and southeast.

could be a bit more showery next Thursday as we start to see a cooling trend as we head towards June. Overall we stay under the influence of ridging but we are very close to those cool Atlantic systems which may impact us slightly at times.

64kts gust at Sligo Airport at 2:30pm.

Very windy in West Clare today, fairly constant but particularly rough the last half an hour and for a time this morning. Haven't seen wind like this in quite a while.

Cooler for the west, these endless easterlys haven't been warm on the east coast, bring back the westerlies in my back garden!
