Got up to 20.3C here near Tralee today. Sunny all day, short sleeves from early morning. Nice evening with some banks of low cloud forming . Looks like there could be fairly widespread fog and patches of mist tonight/ early morning.

What was the official highest temp recorded today and where?

Lovely day earlier but clouded over for a few hours in the early evening, the direct heat out in the sun was definitely hotter than any other day so far this year.
9c out now and just after coming in from listing to the cuckoo in the distance.
Great night for looking at the moon rising.

Cup of tea in hand outside surrounded by the chatter of birds, lush new vegetation and the faint whiff of spring blossom in the air. Hard to beat a good May morning.

Whole country is pretty much cloudless today. Any lingering bit should burn off.
Just back from a short walk with the kids.
Lovely out, warm enough for shorts and tshirt already but still chilly if in the shade.

    Trees are looking really well.

Warming up nicely this morning with 17 degrees been reported at Gurteen and Mullingar @ 10am

Wall to wall cirrus clouds here in North Kildare, pretty much the opposite of cloudless. Having said that, it is very very pleasant and I'm out on a very long walk to make best use of the warmth today.

We have actually woken up to pure blue sky with no clouds in cork city woo. About 16/17 degrees at the moment too. Delighted.

Mullingar was the warmest place in Ireland yesterday peaking at 21 degrees

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 16,722 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

today could easily be the warmest day of the year for many places. Temperatures already 17 to 18C widely across the country, could easily get to 20 or 21C in most places if the sun persists throughout the day. One or two places could get to 22C which would make it the warmest day of the year so far officially.

The cold air which will be in place by tomorrow is already edging into the far north of Scotland. We could see showers later in the day as this coldair air makes progress towards Ireland and the air becomes more unstable.

Rumbles of thunder to the south west of me at the moment. Sun gone in and dark clouds gathering. Anyone west of here get anything?

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,729 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

I see Met Eireann on the local forecast is predicting 24C and no rain for me here in Kilkenny.
The high so far today was 20.6C but it fairly cloudy, I just want rain...warm thunderstorm rain :pac:

23 degrees at Newport at 2pm

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 16,722 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gonzo

21C now at Dunshaughlin, easily our warmest day of the year! Glorious sunshine too. Thunderstorms are beginning to break out across the southern half of the country as the air begins to become much more unstable with the plunge in uppers making its way towards us. A possible 10 to 15C drop in temperatures for many tomorrow.
