Why would somebody who is infected in an infected ward wear a mask.

Any chance of unbanning him from the thread?

    Why was he banned?

All non essential staff who can work from home should I'd imagine the poster is trying to say.

E.g. in my company no one needs to be in the office.

That's 500 less people on public transport or commuting to the city centre

It would nearly be an ethical approach for companies at this stage- how different are we to Northern Italy? Is it just a matter of time before we get dozens of cases? If so, WFH is just one way but a good way to limit the spread- but it will be far less effective if companies wait too long to implement t

They are simply trying to avoid a panic. If they can contain the outbreak to one school it is a massive result.

Would not naming the school be one of the last things you'd do if you wanted to avoid panic? Seems like every parent of every child in a school in the east would be panicking at that headline...

This is the Irish way - to hide unpleasantness and pretend it doesn't exist. It's up there with holding an inquiry into the children's hospital cost blow out with the strict instruction that no one is to be named or blamed.

We saw this in the dirty deal to cover-up the 'unpleasantness' of child molestation and other such crimes by the catholic church and legislation to ring-fence the church from being sued by victims. And the delighted church still hasn't paid up to the government for this amazing nonsense.

It's also is at the root of Ireland's over-the-top libel laws.

A dangerous mind-set when trying to stop a pandemic.

Well written post which I couldn't agree with more.

If they decide to close places where people socialise like pubs they will need the army out.

That's not cool. If he put it in a private message. He prob didn't want identifiable pictures posted on boards.

40 more Italian people have become serious condition since the last update. Now 140 patients in serious or critical conditions

Unsettling figures overall. It's a Wuhan style situation there yet no proper border controls. Hard to understand.

If the HSE announced the school you'd have parents complaining they heard it through the media before they read the e-mail from the school and the same people would still be calling them a disgrace.

You cannot win with these people in any eventuality. Ignore their whining and Facebook bitching and do what is the correct and current best procedure to minimize infection and loss of life.

I have to say I know the HSE is a farce and that but the way they've handled this only 2 days into our outbreak is bleak and doesn't bode well going forward. "low risk" ffs.

Maybe move to Kerry. You will still be allowed to go to the pub with your covid 9 virus, have two pints and drive home.

Is anyone actually worried about this stuff. Unless you're elderly and/or have a weakened immune system, you'll be grand.

Obviously, most of us will not stay in our homes for months.

When we do meet people, keep it to no longer than 10 minutes, and do not touch.

    "flatten the curve"

Everyone will know it by the 9 o'clock news. If they name the school you could have head the balls down trying to burn it to the ground over night.

That kid went to school last week. There will be more cases, possibly. It could well be that the virus does not have the same tenacity and aggression as it has in China. It also may be a mutation etc. We don't know yet.

The last thing the HSE needs is people assuming Glasnevin is ground zero or anything like it.

There was a single isolated case and they’ve contacted everyone who needed to be contacted. The letter they provided to one of the relevant people was copied into this thread. It’s not the HSE’s job to feed you with gossip and fuel paranoia.

Yes because most people have many loved ones and friends who are elderly or have health conditions. Do you only worry about your own health? I seriously cannot at all understand the unbelievable self-centredness of people who post things like this

I'd rather find out at the earliest opportunity. If I hadn't bothered reading emails from the school a public announcement would solve that.

The priority has to be the greater good...…….not the hurty feelings of whingers
