We’re ****ed a few more weeks and we’ll have cases popping up like mushrooms overnight. The HSE is trying to convince us all that it’ll be fine to prevent a run on the hospitals. Like the government did back in the economic crisis telling us the imf wasn’t in town to prevent a run on the banks. Then as now we’re being fed bull****. Difference is, this time people will pay with their lives.

End of March will tell a different story. All western countries are behind the epi curve. Planes still flying daily with no signs of stopping. Trade & Tourism trumps the value of people in the high risk categories. Remember governments probably see these high risk / mostly elderly people as burdens on the health system anyway. The global population aged 60 years or over numbered 962 million in 2017, more than twice as large as in 1980 when there were 382 million older persons worldwide. We have the "I'm alright jacks" on the thread discarding the seriousness of it but I've noticed that has died down a good bit since the weekend.

The HSE know we don't have the capacity to deal with an outbreak, that's why they send out all those dopes like Holohan trying to control the narrative via RTE/media and make sure people remain calm. Blood will be on their hands.

Like I said when we look back on this, not enforcing a travel ban will be one of the most stupid mistakes countries made, most cases started off with someone from/visiting Northern Italy

So far all our cases have been Irish people coming home. Do you think they won't come via elsewhere if flights from Italy were banned from landing? A bit of realism on this oft repeated fallacy is required.

And it's this type of scaremongering that is the most dangerous part of this.

Maybe we should listen to the UK ministry of health - they claim that using hot water to wash your hands kills the virus.

    What incompetent BS.

The water would need to be at boiling point to have any affect - eg scalding.

It's the soap combined with water (of any temp) that removes bacteria from your hands (doesn't kill it)

Thank God we don't have someone that stupid as minister of health

My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that! Homer, there's four places. There's the Iodine Isle, that's on third.

    There's HandGels-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Wash-Your-Hands-There.

That's on third. MegaMasks... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the Panic complex on third.

    Oh, the Panic district!

The figures in Germany are climbing. It will probably take the Germans to take action here and close down all flight travel around the EU.
