Is this based on any sort of numerical, scientific or medical logic or did u just suck on your finger and put it up in the air ?

I'd say he didn't even go as far as sucking his fingers.

Great AMA. I saw one of the medics say they think death rate will be around the same number as Swine Flu! (That's a "good" thing comparison wise)

Looking into a grim situation but there's still a bit of craic on to be had on the thread. I do love our sense of humour. :-)

We were studying China and the spread outside since 20th January or so in work and has been as equally fascinating as concerning. But we are where we are and humour will be needed to battle through over next few months.

Yeah you can see the lag that occurred in China between onset and reported.

Unfortunately that is quite an assumption. We do not know if there are people who have not come forward. Either because they don't think they have the virus or because they have only mild symptoms and don't want to be identied, or be restricted.

Every country has had explosions because of this very reason. If I had a cold / flu now I'd be ****ting it and telling myself and anyone that would listen that it's not infectious until I was at deaths door. Quite a few people in work were saying similar.

Business continuity plans being tested across entities at the moment. We heard of Google and Indeed doing it early in the week, the Central Bank has written out to entities it regulates to remind them that they need to review their BCPs in light of the coronavirus. I think this will be the last full week people who can work from home will be made to come into the office. Two weeks laying low would be good to see where cases spring up.

Couple of UK newspapers reporting that Chinese scientists are suggesting two strains may be circulating, one aggressive, one mild. Worrying if true.

    Will it hit neutral countries?

We’re ****ed a few more weeks and we’ll have cases popping up like mushrooms overnight. The HSE is trying to convince us all that it’ll be fine to prevent a run on the hospitals. Like the government did back in the economic crisis telling us the imf wasn’t in town to prevent a run on the banks. Then as now we’re being fed bull****. Difference is, this time people will pay with their lives.

Can anyone confirm are the HSE only doing tests on symptomatic people including the close contacts of those confirmed?

If so we could have hundreds of people walking around waiting to have a cough before they get tested

Would be amazing if reporters actually asked some probing questions
Well, they are doing tests on the students of the school that first lad attended, at least according to that poster whose daughter is a student at it.

Good, but I wonder if IBEC via Gov told them to prepare, or are these firms just prescient in their own right.
