I was actually just looking at ages, apparently every death in Italy was over 63 years old.

These are the worldwide rates (it is the chance of dying if infected, so does not add up to 100%)

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-death-rate/

    AGE all cases death rate
    80+ years old 14.80%
    70-79 years old 8.00%
    60-69 years old 3.60%
    50-59 years old 1.30%
    40-49 years old 0.40%
    30-39 years old 0.20%
    20-29 years old 0.20%
    10-19 years old 0.20%
    0-9 years old no fatalities

PRE-EXISTING CONDITION DEATH RATE DEATH RATE
    confirmed cases all cases
    Cardiovascular disease 13.20% 10.50%
    Diabetes 9.20% 7.30%
    Chronic respiratory disease 8.00% 6.30%
    Hypertension 8.40% 6.00%
    Cancer 7.60% 5.60%
    no pre-existing conditions 0.90%

Looks like it is going to be really skewed towards old people and ill people (i assume there is a large cross over there)
Obviously skewed towards older but 0.4% in people in their 40's is still quite severe, nobody that young would die of flu, much less one in every 200 odd who contract it

I'm finding it hard to keep up. Is it fair to say that the new cases and deaths are reducing? Looking at that graph of the optimistic scenario vs the real cases seems to be showing a significant drop off which is great news.

Also good news about Patrick's day. Hard to beat bringing the kids in to see the parade followed by a few pints!

How did Covid-19 start in Italy? Did someone in Italy travel to Wuhan/China and brought it back with them or was it someone from China visiting Italy?

First imported cases were: two Chinese tourists who were travelling with a group tour and one Italian man who came back from Wuhan with a military fight and quarantined (he developed symptoms during the quarantine).

    They have all recovered since.

Then there was the first case with no known links to China. He was hospitalised and tested after 36 hours and diagnosed on the 20 February PM.

The health authorities immediately started Testing, trying to identify:

a-all the people he could have passed it on (family, friends, colleagues, sport contacts) and b-the "patient zero" who passed it on to him (so far, still not found). So that was the first Country in Europe to have started wide testing.

So about 1% of their cases are members of parliament.

Also, wtf are the soldiers supposed to be doing?

Countries aren't testing. United States have a link between two of 6 weeks difference. So 6 week community spread. Iran and Egypt evidence of widepsread infection. Italy playing catch up too. The official data is now way off

I am unsure whether to be worried about the Italian Numbers - increase in deaths and infections.

Are Italy tested more people than other countries?

First case in Argentina, surprised it took that long with such large number of italian migrants

    What in it is incorrect?
For example the temperature resistance at 26 degrees and recommendations of drinking hot water. The body internal am temp is 37 degrees! It should never be able to infect you if that was the case.

40 year olds have and will continue to die from the flu.

    The graph?
That one shows China cases vs world, using different scales, different time periods.

Can't go by total cases now anyway, different outbreaks in different regions with different dynamics.

South Korea numbers are the most accurate. Look at the volume of people they are testing, they have a high rate of cases but a low death rate... IMO because they are closer to tracking the actual number of infected.

Could also be they are catching them early so recovery/deaths has not fully played out yet

Even if they don't call off st Patrick's day events I 100% wouldn't be going anywhere near a crowd. Best of luck to anyone who does.

Italy ****ed again, yesterday had a drop, back up today and lots of new deaths and serious/critical cases.

I can't see the situation ever improving to be honest ... its just going up and up and up exponentially .... what the f*ck is going on over there ?

The coronavirus outbreak has really exposed the flaws in humanity sadly. Lack of empathy, intelligence, and due diligence all extremely evident in society.Greed at an all time high. Maybe this is why mental health of the youth especially is at an all time low.

Genomic evidence suggests that #COVID19 has been circulating in the US since Jan 15, but undetected due to lack of testing

    https://bedford.io/blog/ncov-cryptic-transmission/

I believe that was the case also for many European Countries with direct flights to and from China.

Italy was the first to test (20 February for the first patient with no known links to China).

At the same time in a hospital in the Oise region in France there was another patient with no known links to nor China nor Italy.
His symptoms started on the 12 February.

but he was tested after 6 days only on the 25 February.
