This very long video from the lead of the WHO mission to China is very informative. He answers a lot of the common questions eg can people without symptoms transmit COVID-19?
Ans: Very rarely so are not a significant driver of spread.

Unfortunately to get the most out of it's best to watch it to the end.

Will their be any EU level crisis meetings to come up with a plan to tackle this?

Because it seems counties that have been hit hard are struggling to cope and those that haven't been hit like us are more then too happy to act like business as usual until we get overwhelmed too.

God damn, some pro active basic checks at airports could probably go a long way. Especially with patricks day about to flood the streets with tourists

Anyone know off the top of their head how many cases China had before they started locking everything down?

Funny you should say that - the WHO guy in the video I linked to above said that if he was critically ill with COVID-19 that's where he would want to be as they're are now very good at keeping the sickest people alive. For this reason mortality rates inside China may not be comparable to those outside.

China was a whole different ball game as they never really had imported cases although they're starting to get a few now!

Why would this end Trump? People say this all the time and he just proves to be a class act again and again, completely resilient to the liberal media agenda.

It's the cool hip thing to do these days bash auld Trump , no matter what he does he LL never be given a fair shake ,

I have my doomsday place sorted..

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerguelen_Islands

"The Kerguelen Islands (/kərˈɡeɪlən/ or /ˈkɜːrɡələn/;[2] in French commonly Îles Kerguelen but officially Archipel des Kerguelen, pronounced [kɛʁɡelɛn]), also known as the Desolation Islands , are a group of islands in the Antarctic constituting one of the two exposed parts of the Kerguelen Plateau, a large igneous province mostly submerged by the southern Indian Ocean. They are among the most isolated places on Earth

I've moved through several stages with this crap - nervousness, anxiety, panic, preperation for the inevitable. I've now moved onto anger and defiance.

Based on what you juat wrote there, there is no way someone like you should be allowed a firearms license.

As a former military man I'm highly concerned that someone with such an unstable mind had access to licenced firearms.

A week in the Central African Republic is badly needed, you'll not be so cocky afterwards

It’s a million-dollar question. There are three possibilities: Kids don’t get infected for some reason; they get infected but have a low expression of disease; they get infected and express disease like everyone else but we haven’t seen it because of schools being closed. I think the first and last aren’t the reality. So it’s that middle group.

There are a couple of theories going around [to explain this]. The receptors [Covid-19] binds to in the lungs aren’t very mature in children. But the reality is we see this phenomenon up to 90 years of age, so that sounds unlikely. Second, maybe the four coronaviruses that cause colds confer some temporary immunity in kids. But then why aren’t the elderly [protected]?

We’ve got to get an antibody test [to test the population for antibodies to the virus] to know if kids are driving the epidemic and we just can’t see it.

Good article about China, blows away many of the misconceptions about numbers and China hiding them . The last line in the article is a little strange, I think he means are children may be asymptomatic and spreading the virus but not becoming ill. That would be some turn up for the books, kids killing their parents, its a nightmare situation.

On the Claire Byrne show, when he was saying that children aren't being badly affected and almost no deaths in children, Claire asked "can't they be super spreaders though?" And he said yes they can.

But the families of these potential super spreaders don't need to isolate themselves?

The Seven Stages of Coronavirus denial

    1. We're an island, we can't catch it
    2. You can only catch it abroad
    3. It only affects the old ones
    4. There's a low risk of cross contamination
    5. Only 15% of people get really sick
    6. Its just the flu
    7. Cannot believe I'm still ali...

Feel free to build on it.

I missed that bit but evidence from China would not support it.

This is mainly true though, hence we get the same old cliche coming on here saying what's the world come to, most of us will just have mild symptoms if any what's the big deal? For anyone over 60 it could be a very big deal. And the economic and social implications for the rest of us....
