Has anyone got the day to day stats for the Netherlands? I thought they only confirmed their first case very recently.

I wonder do a lot of politicians or ex establishment figures have a vested interest in the horse racing game and pressue is being brought to bare?

The horse racing is always the same the Walsh clique, Ruby, Ted etc were the only sports people who got to travel during foot and mouth in 2001. Over to the Aintree grand national. They're a monied pampered clique. Treated like Gods in this country.

Interesting to see, though I reckon that will continue to drop over the coming weeks, though we won't really know til the end of the week as Italy's recovery rates don't seem to be reported that well.

If you go down the page you'll see that Italy has 124 closed cases. 41 deaths and 83 recovered, which would be terrifying except that presumably, it takes longer to recover than die, as the virus appears to last in a person for up to 14 days after they appear recovered. So most people in Italy who feel recovered won't be considered a closed case until their viral load falls more and that will take another week or two at least.

Might take the plunge and do the prep later today.

Load up on heating oil, do a big shop, might get a crossbow. Fishing gear is an option too. Live beside a river for when the supply chain goes to pot.
Will upgrade crossbow to shotgun when the zombie apocolypse arrives

    Or

Just get the crossbow and shotgun now and take what you need from your unarmed neighbours later

I'd be worried if I was old AND sick.
Otherwise this is not as serious as is being made out.

It wouldnt be as simple as that tho, there is alot more to it.

I never said it was easy. I'd rather see peoples lives saved (even though some don't seem to care about older and sick people) than a few tourists inconvenienced and some lad in IBEC moaning.

How does the school name identify the pupil?
There's hundreds of kids at the school.

How do I use the school name to identify the patient?

Forget the school in this particular incident. The name of the school was available immediately on social media - as everyone knew it would be. It is the overall message the HSE want to convey, to anyone else who may suspect they are carrying the virus - "We do not disclose any potentially identifying information. You can trust us".

To be honest, i think you love all this and talk complete nonsense, theres no point us discussing it because i honestly dont value your opinion at all, i think ur smug and talk muck most the time. We ll agree to disagree!

For the love of God... I love a severely disruptive virus on the loose do I?!

I made a fairly simple logical point with regard to people making baseless guesses as to when or why this will trail off. I'd love to hear your thoughts on whether you think this will trail off in April and why? What exactly are you disagreeing with, as you are arguing against points I didn't make!

Isn't it usually attack the post..?

The funny thing is, as an Island, we are in a great place to self isolate the country. (I know we wouldnt), but if we closed our airports and ports, we would actually contain in. Or, anybody arriving from particular places HAVE to isolate, versus only isolating if they have "a cough or are sneezing". There are benefits of an island, unless the island becomes infected and you cant escape. Those cheap houses up in Cavan dont seem too bad now!

This presumably would involve a rapid invasion and takeover of Northern Ireland too? Or would we be lashing up a Game of Thrones style wall instead?

They have done so multiple times on media today, and I can clearly understand it.

No, they haven't set-up fake Facebook accounts to warn of impending doom, or sent fake WhatsApp messages about workplaces in Tipperary or people in Greystones or whatever.

Most people understand it. Are they convinced by it? The HSE has a huge deficit of trust built up through years of incompetence, cover up, mismanagement etc. I don’t think they are overcoming it.

It's called preventative measures or we could wait until our health service is overwhelmed.

You’re one of those people who can really only consider one issue at a time, in isolation, aren’t you?

Yeah but it could create a whole host more problems, especially with limerick being the main hospital for alot of regions say you lock down limerick? where do those people go from surrounding areas? im not saying your wrong im just saying it could cause alot more problems and be difficult to implement.

I don't think it's overkill when the mortality rate in the elderly is nearly 22% for closed cases. I've made a decision to keep away, and keep my son away, from my 89 year old grandmother for the next few weeks. It's a tough decision but I don't want to be responsible for her getting sick either.

This is the news I’ve been dreading hearing for my own selfish reasons. My dad is booked into respite for a long weekend in a couple of weeks and I really need the break.

My other concern is he requires 2 carers 3 times a day. I’m pretty fooked if that is cancelled and 5 foot 1 me has to manage a 6ft paralysed man on my own.

Maybe consider a machete? Or crossbow with machete attached? Or crossbow that fires machete?

Good to see the national broadcaster exploiting the situation for clicks. The top 6 stories on the RTE website are Coronavirus related.

The hysterical overreaction is deeply indicative of the infantile state of a lot of the population.

    Sounds really sensible to me.
Doing their best to protect people who are likely most vulnerable.

Yeah same as the 1 close to me its gone to only letting 1 visitor per resident at any time this started a few days ago wont be surprised to see a ban in place in the next week or 2, also rumours around the town that someone has symptoms and was on a skiing trip with a group recently

Or I'd be worried if people I cared about were old, or younger but with immuno issues and contracted the virus. People are worrying for their loved ones too, not just themselves.

The degree of profit taking in some quarters is extreme but unfortunately not at all surprising.

I do hope that all stay safe and remember, good hand hygiene and sensible precautions will do far more to keep you safe than panic.

Iv this in work mayb I should sell by the spray

Trust also erodes when people think their right to privacy will not be respected.

Imagine that you present today to your GP. He suspects coronavirus, you get tested and confirmed.

So they ring your workplace and tell them you've got coronavirus. Then they publish the name of your workplace and the fact that a case has been discovered there.

Only problem is, your workplace is a secretary and two solicitors. And you're the secretary. Think about the impact of that, and how many people now know that YOU have coronavirus. People you didn't tell, people you don't really know. Idiots who will take their business elsewhere, because infection, or something. People who will tell their kids to stop playing with your kids, who will give you weird looks in the supermarket in six months time.

Now imagine you're not the poor bastard who's been outed on the national news.

You're an onlooker, working in a similarly small business or similarly small town. You've been feeling a bit poorly.

Do you think the actions of the HSE are going to encourage you to come forward for testing? Or are you more likely to wait it out and see what happens?

I appreciate that the name of the school may not be immediately private information, but people are well able to put two & two together. And as we can see from this thread, are well able to panic - "I walked past that school 3 weeks ago! OMFFFGGGGG!!!!".

By not releasing the information publically, the HSE are maintaining a basic pillar of any health system - trust that your privacy is of the utmost importance unless there is a massively compelling reason to breach it.

J£sus wept! I thought we got passed all that crap with AIDS! So it's a dark dirty secret now if you get Covid-19? What'll the Fkn neighbours think?
    Unbelievable mentality.

If you had CFS, other such conditions or were elderly...a large percentage of people, you wouldn't be posting such nonsense.
