It was a Terrorist campaign carried out by the PIRA without he permission of the IRISH people, and most of us will always hate them for that....

The younger generation have no memory of the Troubles, hence their softer approach to SF.

and those living in the south have no idea what it was like either, to have no representation against a security force that didnt want you.

I think FG will be closer to 20. Tide has really gone against them.

I think the high reported turnout is not a good omen for FG. I would put them at 21-24% with FF at 27-29%.

It would be a major blow for FF if they do not get back up to somewhere near their traditional number of seats, something over 70. They got 21 in 2011 and 44 last time. For some reason the media made out Micheál to be some sort of genius for getting 44.

Well considering many thought FF were actually going to disappear it wasn’t a bad result.

The exit polls may only cover 1 St preferences but even still are relevant as they show where the goodwill goes on transfers. But even so 4th and 5 th seats are up for grabs for anyone who can stay in

Turnout has been poor in western counties. I think FFG are going to do much better than many think

And what would you call a party losing an election in the midst of the country having full employment, the highest growth in the EU, and all the other shiny bright things FG were seeking credit for?

Major blow wouldn't get a look in.

Any word on the actual turnout ?

As it's a Saturday voting patters are different from what they have been in the past

Those of us living in the 26 counties have no idea what the Irish up the north went through.

It’s laughable looking at people living in safety here judge the PIRA.

    It was a different time.

Ffg have been involved in enough recent scandals.

Seems it pretty much in line with 2016...tailed off over the last few hours according to RTE

Totally agree. I totally disagree with Sinn Fein in their philosophy but judging what happend in northern Ireland from the safety of the South is ridiculous. We have no idea what they went through up there.

2 mins before the exit polls

FG won't do as badly as the poll predicted.

SF won't do as well as the polls predicted.

    Varadkar will remain as Taoiseach

Can't delete if quoted... (well, can't delete my quote of it)

I think ff and fg are going to take a big hit.

Ff around 52-54 and fg around 30.
