391 kWh off 2.0kwp SW and 1.2kwp NE in Cork. That last 9 kWh eating me up inside!

Epic month 922 kWh generated from my 6.1kWp system in Cork.

3 kWh off my best month ever (Aug 22) and I used 49% which I am happy enough with since I don't have a battery. Month was 25% over the estimate

6.1kWp south facing, South of Cork City

    8.4 kwp E/W Louth

    Generated -- 1039 kwh

    Grid Import -- 131 kwh

Grid Export FIT -- 341 kwh

    Best Day 30th 53.51 kwh

    worst day 20th 15.85 kwh.

import was all in the first half of the month. Lessons learned it’s been pretty much what ever the inverter needs since.

export could be higher also but on day/night so using and abusing.

With the glorious weather towards second half of May, Im getting very interested in the curve across the day for generation of my easy facing (blue line) and south facing (orange line).

The east facing gives us a good hit in the morning time from 6 onwards. I think i need more optimizers on south facing as I have a peak roof separating 2 parts of the south facing panels, but im still very happy with results!

Why do you think that? Both curves look good to me. Your max value of your

east array was (roughly) 2.8Kw out of 3.4Kwp = 82%

south array was (again roughly) 3.6Kw out of 4.2Kwp = 86%

So your south array is operating very similarly to your east array. Also both curves show nice smooth curves. The sudden spike at 6:30am is probably when the sun rises above a house or something. Looks good to me....that's not to say of course that there isn't shading only that I don't see it from the curves that you have an issue

Thanks thats good to know.. i was close to getting someone out to add additional optimizers but i might leave it based onyour comments.

Almost matched my record day from June '22 and my best month from May '21 (654 kWh)

Purchase shifting is as good as it gets

6.84kWp south facing, Roscommon. 4.8kw battery.

    Jun 2023

    933kWh generated

Had a number of power outages with the thundery weather and crappy local grid the last 2 weeks so could have been closer to the magical 1mWh for the month.

Had my record day 2nd, and it was my record month, so can't complain.

100% of total consumption, self produced (have backwards spinning meter)

    Total consumption 739kWh.

136kWh to Eddi (mostly using immersion for HW during the summer, that's 13l of oil saved)

    310 kWh exported

    60kWh imported (no day/night meter)

47.2kW generated best day (2nd Jun)

    10kWh generated worst day (30th)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,264 ✭✭✭lightspeed

I live in Balbriggan which is plagued by seagulls. They nest on my roof and neighbours every year and present all year.

Right now I'm assuming it's enevitable that they will poo all over them and prevent them from working so solar panels would be a wasted investment.

If I'm wrong, can anybody educate how the above is not going to be an issue or how it's solved?

We a have D/N meter so FIT is calculated and we don’t have an EV, I boost the hot water with an immersion switch but it’ll be interesting to see what the difference is between the calculated units and the actual units fed in over the year even with the immersion running.

Energia bill for May-June was €10.18. We’d have been in credit if we were paid by unit but I assume it’ll balance out.

1280kWh generated though I was offline for a day so it would have been just a touch over 1300kWh. Interestingly that was lower than May.

June stats for a 6kWp south facing array in North Dublin. Lots of export because I was on holiday for a week, kinda wish I had a smart meter for once

    Generated: 914.5kWh

    Consumed: 438.27kWh

    Exported: 411.7kWh

Imported: 21kWh (4kWh Day, 17kWh Night, taken from meter readings so slightly off the Solar statistics)

    And some cost estimation

    Electricity usage cost: €3.84

    Standing charge: €25

    Export: €33

    Bill for June (Import+Standing charges-Export): -€4.03

    Estimated bill without solar: €223

    Savings for June: €227.03

Thought it was going to be a record month for us but alas yesterday let us down.

    South Roscommon, 8.16Kwp, facing 210° at 35°, 9.6kWh battery

Total generation 1078.37kWh (prediction at 865.4kWh, last year 936kWh)

    Consumed 788.39kWh (74% self use).

    Energy from Grid 1kWh

    Energy to Grid 285kWh

    To the Eddi 138.2kWh

To the Zappi 337.7Wh (all from solar)

    To the Battery 130.18kWh

    From the Battery 122.65kWh

    Best day 2nd with 55.3kWh

    Worst day 30th with 8.69kWh

Energy exported would have generated €51.30 at Energia FIT rate if on a smart meter, we are D/N.

My generation has been 120% of expected for the past couple of months. I think the calculators are a bit on the conservative side

Based on everyone’s numbers here and over the last few months and even reading other threads I don’t think I saw a comment where someone regretted installing their system bar one poor install.

It just seems insane that all new builds are not required to have solar covering their calculated annual energy requirement where possible with even an oversupply to offset carbon from the build and supported to do so at the build stage by government.

The economy of scale especially in larger estates where the instal is part of the design and with cables runs easily achieved from first/second fix I’d imagine it could all be achieved with 5-7 year payback.
