Does anyone know has the EU examiner changed in the last few years? I know it’s Caoimhin now but has it always been him? The exam papers are tougher between 2015-2017 imo

Current examiner started in Oct 15 iirc

Does anyone know, if proctorio has detected suspicious activity from our exam, when we will hear from the law society?

If you look at the FAQ it says the law society’s committee will review any and all suspicious activity and we will be given an opportunity to comment....I would say it wouldn’t be until results are out - I’d say they’ll withhold results for people they think cheated

I don't think they've said... I assume it will be before results
But based on the amount of issues they've had with it, I'd imagine they'll be very slow to make an issue of any suspicious activity, since people have had to phone them during the exams and open new tabs to send them emails after being locked out. That could all be considered suspicious activity, speaking to someone, using phones, opening new tabs etc... but it's been caused by issues on their end

I’m thinking the same. Maybe people looking at their desk a lot during an exam with no legislation etc or those very blatantly cheating but i can’t imagine they’ll find trouble with anything else

I think they’d have difficulty proving it even if someone is looking at their desk a lot for an exam without legislation- I really think unless they catch something very obvious like you looking at your phone or having writing on your hand

Yeah good point! Even in the email they said they will only be looking at the recordings in ‘exceptional circumstances where significant concerns arise’ so I assume it’s only going to be the worst of the worst

    General principles
    Institutions
    Direct effect/ms liability
    Judicial review
    Citizenship/FMOW
    FMOG
Then competition law but not sure what I’ll focus on within that

My dog came up to my room today and started barking and scratching at me when I was doing criminal law. I kept having to kick him out of my room but my bedroom door doesn't close properly so he kept coming back in. I picked him up and showed him to the AI spy robot to prove I wasn't doing anything suspicious, but I imagine this will flag me for suspicious conduct anyway as there is a dog in my video feed. To make matters worse I went to the bathroom and used my phone to text my sister to lock the dog up when she came home, and forgot to put it back on airplane mode so it rang during the exam.

Do you think it would be worth informing the Law Society about this ordeal or will I let them come to me about it?

You poor thing I’m sure you’ll be fine but why didn’t you just lock the dog up when you went out to the bathroom instead of texting your sister haha

I'd say say nothing, if they pull you on it explain but don't bring attention to your exam and video etc. My dogs were barking too and my phone was buzzing because I had to ring the Law Soc to get into the exam and I couldn't get it to turn off! I know I didn't cheat so I feel no need to explain myself :)

I'm sure they understand that these things are bound to happen I wouldnt worry :) !

I wouldn't flag it unless they come to you first... That sounds like a bit of a disaster tbh, hope the paper went okay for you anyway! And they'll probably have a good laugh seeing you hold your dog up to the camera :D

    @FE1student560

That’s actually gas! I’ve two Alsatians myself and legit had to nip to Aldi on Tuesday night for a couple of postman legs! Tip of the day for anyone with dogs doing these exams! There wasn’t a peep out of them for hours!

    Property

My eyes are closing and brain currently hates me. Would the following be enough for tomorrow?

    Succession (v well)
    Adverse possession (v well)
    Finding (v well)
    Family property (good)
    Land registry (good)
Co Ownership (okayish but lost around severance)
    Easements (okayish)

Should I add in anything else?

Does anybody know if we log on early tomorrow (around 9) do we have to sit watching the screen for an hour or can we go off and study until 10?

Yeah if you log into the lobby you can study but it looks like it records. I just packed up with 15 minutes to go, did a danger toilet run and set for the exams.

I logged on early and just studied in front of my laptop for an hour and put my notes at the back of the room like 1 minute before the exam started

I done Company yesterday and I have to say the online sitting and the paper itself was actually alright. Finished early and all. Constitutional is my final FE1 and if I pass I’m off to Blackhall but I swear doing it after something like Company is like day and night - twice the amount of topics to study and mixed at that whereas company is just so clean.

Constitutional is my last one too and I agree, it seems so different to all the other exams! I don't even know where to start with it or what topics can be cut out

I just sat my final two exams. I’m hoping for a pass on these. It’s been a long haul and mentally draining. The criminal paper I found a bit strange in comparison to all other exams. It’s the mixing of different scenarios in question.my method of studying is generally knowing each topic quite well and in a rhythm system whereby I know what to talk about by the case and what comes next etc. if I lose the rhythm it takes me a while to get back into it.

Can anybody give me their views on the criminal paper regarding the problem questions was it mixing of a lot of topics and generally give your analysis on the likely outcome.

I left company and criminal as my last two and hoping these examiners are fair markers as I made a stab at 5 questions.

I wish ye all the best of luck and push through guys

    Hey everybody doing property,

Does anyone have a sample answer for the question where you have to critically analyse the Irish approach to Rules of Construction/Interpretation? Or if Christmas has come early, a booklet with all the property sample answers?

I can offer lots of material on most topics for most of the subjects and also a MASSIVE thank you! :)

Hey does anyone know how long a person has to set a conveyance aside for non compliance with sec 3 of the family home protection act? cant find it anywhere in my manual and in the 2018 exam report on the family property problem question he says:

"students are expected to consider if the consent to the conveyance was adequate under s. 3 of the Act by reference to the relevant case-law. They should also set out the consequences of the consent being found to be inadequate, as well as any relevant time-limits to set the conveyance asíde."

Yeah, it’s so long. You’d nearly get Property and Company for the price of Constitutional! Tort is long too but 13 topics had me confident and it all worked out. I was at 20 topics for Cons before I cut it to 16. The questions are so mixed too so you end up having little tag alongs on the main topics. It’s like Criminal Law on steroids for the mixing! What have you left out? The major ones I’ve left out are Religion, Association & Assembly, Interpretation although I kinda use a sliding scale when studying so the likes of Locus Standi wouldn’t be getting as much attention as say The Family. I don’t know what you think about the case note Q but I’m looking at that for a guaranteed Q. The course is that long that surely it will work with us for that Q.
