Eoin O Broin SF Dub MW is frantically tweeting about the reported tailing off of voters in DMW.
Looks like it won't be even 60% final turnout if current trend keeps up.
mind you, I think it was 50 something percent last time so at least it'll be a bit up.

    (weather is rotten)

Despite the talk earlier turnout has really died down since late afternoon. No evening rush you'd usually see on a weekday.

I'd never have expected an evening rush though, the evening rush midweek is people stopping off on their way home. The morning may be busier on a Saturday with people stopping off to and from kids training of all sorts, matches and the likes.

#ExitPoll is unusable on Twitter as there's also elections in Delhi (state population - more than 3x Ireland) today and they're using it too.

Just voted in Sligo. It was after the rugby match, but the boxes are full. I’ve never seen that. And queues were forming after the match.

Only word of caution is that Sligo is running a lot of candidates, so the ballot paper is longer than normal (I think 18 in total).

But will be interesting to see if a high turnout is bad for FG our not.

19 candidates for four seats. It's mental. Some mixture of crazies on the Independent side and add in the National Party fella....

55% at one station in East Cork at 9pm. Poor show.

First World problems, but Luas is another pain in the ass when people in another part of the world have the temerity to use twitter at the same time.

RTE saying no surge in voter turnout, weather obviously a factor. A lot of people could not care less and then whinge online.:(

    Now there’s some exit poll

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,631 ✭✭✭blackwhite

Hard to know who is most transfer friendly based on polling over the campaign

    Dead heat.
    FF were underestimated in 2016
SF first time holding their polling in exit poll

    Margin of error is 1.3%

    Interesting few days.

Sinn fein not transfer friendly to FF/FG and vice versa. Think we'll end up with a a FF/FG government with maybe a few independents when all is said and done

Well done RTE and it's RTE Player.
    A bag of sh1te!

So the polls were real last weekend and the parties knew it. The full court media press on fabricated IRA nonsense over the last week looks even worse now. They *knew* they had to throw the kitchen sink at it.

This is a massive exit poll for SF. 31% with 18 - 24 year olds. They will get there, the long game is working.

FF lead government it is then, propped up by FG would be my guess.

Well it could be either way round if they can agree to work together, either could end up with more TD's based on that exit poll. SF made a complete bollox of their chance which is amusing, selecting far too few candidates.

FF-FG needs to become one party imo. They essentially represent the same constituency and putting all these candidates against each other is hurting them and letting the left in the door

Another election within e few months is not unlikely on that result.

On those figures, FF will possibly get the largest number of seats, maybe 45. FG a few less, and SF mid 30's.

Another election in 2020 now 5-2 with Paddy Power

    Was 5-1 yesterday

Several things, there's no media conspiracy. And nothing was fabricated.

FF and SF need to become one party. Each of them claims to be the Republican party. FF frigged up our economy, SF would do the same if their manifesto was implemented

58-60% from two area's here in south kildare, I'm reliably informed, which sounds good

Fully agree could be the other way around either. All depends on how the actual poll goes.
Personally didnt vote SF, the manifesto economically didnt stand up.

I'd be surprised if we had another election this year. The big 2 will come to some sort of arrangement

SF would've been pretty foolhardy to run more candidates after how they did in the local/European elections. Hindsight is 20/20, this surge was never on the cards.
