Meant to land into cork at 9.30am/9.45am from Stansted what chances of that.

Have the phone out and record your landing/go around/divert

High tide in Dublin is at 1:20pm (4.32m) could be quite a surge around the bay, with those winds heading for Clontarf-Howth.

At least that fool Eoghan Murphy isn't doing emergency bulletins.

Last thing I want is a divert the plane has to
Come from cork first so let’s see what happens

I could well be wrong. I've landed on 16 several times on board, but have never seen them take off on it. Only 2000m/6500ft available.

East coast maybe, as wouldn't be full? West coast surely not.

Off topic I know but at MTOW an A330 needs around 2200 metres length, this has varying factors due to wind, wet/dry runway, temperature, engine variant, QNH, sea level etc.
An EI west coast flight still wouldn’t be close to MTOW as the A330 holds around 105 tonne of fuel and only takes around 70-75 tonne for a west coast trip. All these factors add in but yes to answer your question i’ve seen west coast flights take off from RWY16 many a time.

No sign of the national emergency coordination centre, or whatever they call themselves, on TV either.

Gloom Lee must be on holidays.

When its developing on a sunday none of them want to know.

George Lee has been very quiet since he told us the apocalypse was here with Lorenzo. A storm with a peak gust of 106km in Malin.

That's the problem with today as we've seen with Cathal from Midlands Weather and the TV 3 fella, social media is giving a voice to people without the necessary knowledge/qualifications to pronounce on subjects.

2 honourable exception for local weather forecasting, not sensationalist, being Danno, Laois Weather and Alan O'Reilly, Carlow weather.

2 models gfs and icon showing two very different storm Brendan's developing right now at 12:00 am. Icon is showing much more severe conditions for tomorrow which I am hearing from people here is the anonomly?

In any of the storms I've followed in boards, icon seems to over predict.

Strange that one of the models can be so far off in real time...

    Let it be said now...

Deric Ó hArtagáin is an idiot for posting that map.

Of course, Met Éireann will be the ones to get the flack on the chin now with that going around.
It does look a lot like Ireland but, in fairness, it's a map from Met Eirann (sic...wake up, Larbre) according to that lad.

Just looking at that too, it did appear ICON was a slight outlier on the last run but this run is about the same in track and intensity.

    ???

Its a warning map from some god knows when previous event!! He's an absolute gobsheen.

He's a continuity announcer, if they can't afford to hire someone at least trained as a weather 'presenter' they should just stick up a static image from MÉ and shut up!

Put down the Buckfast and go off to bed, would ya? Try and relax, you'll give yourself the jitters and the Leon Trotskys.

Cathal is a fully qualified meteorologist. He has never got it wrong.

The 850 hPa level (standard altitude 1450 m amsl) will be at only 800 m amsl at the centre of the low tomorrow, when the surface pressure will be 935 hPa. Haven't seen it that low before.

None of us have Crystal ball, so there is no point in people posting random questions about flights being on time as none of us can answer.

Jesus use your own judgement, every time there's a weather warning we've people coming on her asking "will my flight be able to land at 8.12 pm" "will my wheely bin turn over at 8.25 pm", no one knows the exact tract or timing of storms like this so don't be asking stupid questions:rolleyes:

To be a qualified meteorologist, you need experience with a recognised meteorological agency
    Starting your own doesn't count

Last fifteen minutes winds have really strengthened here. Moved the bins inside and the gusts were hard to stand in.
450m from the shoreline. South Connemara

ECM 18Z coming out and stronger than the last run .

Getting up in the range of 130 to 140 km/h all along the W, SW, S, SE coasts and in a bit from the coast too.

Very windy across the country also getting up around 100 to 110 km/h

Seems to be starting a lot earlier than forecast? If you can barely stand in the gusts. Eerie kind of apprehension with this storm between this and the significant drop in pressure not seen before ..

It's irrelevant for us really as the centre of the low will be well out to sea. It's just showing how at that stage the low will be vertically-stacked after occluding. The 500 hPa level (standard 5575 m) will be at about 4850 m at the same time.

Sounds like a very high orange storm.
That’s the most dangerous storm possible as we’ll all be going about our business as usual.

    Stay safe all.

probably due to wind funneling down the side of the house and my closeness to the shore

Models are starting to converge alright.

Not looking forward to flying across the Atlantic tomorrow!!!
