The one with the Nordie/ Donegal man pretending his car isn't making a funny noise.

Who is ashamed to admit their car needs fixing like?

    Every ad break on a loop of;
    health insurance company
    the "keep well" covid ad
    funeral directors

And rrrrright now, more than ever wecansaveyoumoneydotie...

has there always been this many health insurance ads on the radio? Or is it covid scaremongering, even though you'll still get treated without health insurance.

The music in the Laya one is especially irritable

But, but, but Massey's Funeral Directors really care - shure they'd probably bury you for FREE if you couldn't afford it and as for Home Instead and the Mater Private - they make me want to spew. Medical porn.

If you think that's bad, check out the ads they put on during the breaks on fox news!

There's an ad on Nova for Discount DIY which features a bloody annoying song, and for the life of me I cannot figure out what they're actually saying in the song at the start, which actually makes it even more annoying! It sounds like "If you wanna know about froom, for a family to clean and broom..." What!??

What's Nova? Is it the awful radio station from the 1980s?

It's a rock radio station in Dublin/Dublin area. Only kicked off about 2010 or 2011 sometime.
I used to live up that direction back in the bad old days for a time!

Feckin John and David with their "Fiadh to Fry-up" (what does that even meán?) are back. That as bugs the hell out of me for some unknown reason....

Yeah the music is terrible. It sounds like a computer program composed it.

The generic "Jaaaaaaazz" on the Go Loud ad is equally annoying.

I think it boils down to Covid. No advertising slots for non essential products and their now closed outlets, hotels, events etc. leading to lots of repetition.

    Well that's disappointing.

I don't know why or what it is exactly; irrational? But that scribble/pen sound on the Davy (trading as Janey Davey Wavey Baby) adverts, really annoys me...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

Oh, the 'safe driver revolution' too, that sounds like a barrel of laughs for those who 'don't risk an orange light'....

what do you lot think of the latest Irish Mail ad...with the Thick Paddy bit racist?

    "wha? Sure i've no friends!"

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,015 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

Leader dog food with the anaemic stock "woof woof".

Poor mutt sounds as if he's going to keel over.

'Mark the cat's in the bin........right I'm going to get the hose'....something to do with tax returns?

Mark seems to be a popular name for stupid men in Ads these days - he's frozen in another popular Ad for God knows what and he falls off a mountain in another. Awful, awful Ads that fail utterly in that I can't even remember what product they are promoting.

Sounds about right judging by some Marks I know.

Being something of a pedant, the latest Ad for the Irish Navy (sic) strikes me as an odd one given that it is the Irish Naval Service not the Irish Navy - even their own website states that: https://www.military.ie/en/who-we-are/naval-service/

Pilsen Skoda took the audio from their TV ad, sound effects and all for use on Nova. It sounds bloody stupid with all the sound effects out of context, and I couldn't make sense of it at all until I saw the TV ad and realised what they'd done.

Oh good God...the perky wan off the Dunnes Stores ad. Like Vogue Williams on helium..."greocery vaicher"

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,015 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

New covid ad with increasingly angry voiceovers, probably reflecting the fact that some of us out there over a year on still don't get it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭crazy 88

The McCambridge brown bread ad with awful stereotypical Irish background music. Yes, we get you're Irish....
And the even more awful and unnecessary "Is that why it tastes so good?" voiceover thrown in randomly at the end

It's infuriating. The voice perks up on random words. I'm pretty sure I've heard the same voice on other ads but the perkiness is toned down. Which means Dunnes are doing this on purpose!

The same company churning out the same ads maybe? They are mostly unimaginative so it's no surprise they can't think of a name for a man other than Mark.

I must be the only one who hates their bread and the kind of wartime/prison bread that always accompanies soup and chowder in this country.

That song 'it's so important to make someone happy' that's on some national lottery ad lately. It makes me irritated, not happy.
