I think a lot of small, independent businesses won't recover. Even 2 weeks of lost revenue will be a big blow to them.

I hate faceless chain stores and avoid them where possible, so I hope many of the smaller players survive.

    I see both sides.

I've a small supplier that I've brought into our office - he's had to close for minimum 2 weeks and let his staff go. All I can do is make sure all our office bills are paid and up to date. I've asked to see can I get him paid earlier than the agreed terms.

On the other hand, my sister works for a chain store - staff have have been told they need to take holiday leave or unpaid leave. There are always faces fronting up faceless chain stores and its those who suffer.

Anyway, Im being a complete miserable fooker tonight, you can all tell me to sod off.

I'd agree to a certain extent.

Alot of people who are vulnerable/less money rely on the chain store produce because its cheaper.

I'll just point out that I felt the same sense of doom during the economic crash, most of us pulled through that.

I think we're watching the updates and discussing it so much that it's become the bogie man.

I'm going to make sure I get up early and go for a walk every morning before sitting down at my desk space.

Also, make sure I take scheduled lunches and breaks and go for a walk at lunch time too!

I headed down west Cork with a picnic today,it was absolutely fantastic. The beaches were incredibly busy, the weather was beautiful, everyone was active, plenty in the water, you really couldn't wish to be anywhere else.
I got home around 8pm and the gloom descended immediately but what can you do.I'd definitely recommend the beach if possible for anyone not feeling great at the moment, it lifts the mood and definitely take a picnic, nothing like it .
Wondering what the craic will be in work in the morning, changes have been made already but I'm expecting more to be done, will be interesting.

Long night. There's a kind of nervous energy in the building, that'll ramp up as the regular week people start arriving

Good morning. I'm unusually clear headed so early on a Monday morning.
I'm a positive and hopeful fella, always have been, so I'm approaching this virus with the same mindset.
Just be careful of yourselves and mindful of others and with a bit of care and luck we will ride this out in time for the summer sunshine.
Going for a walk before settling down to some work, have a good Monday.

Going to fill bags of turf for my neighbour later. I know she is well able to go out herself but it would be the time she would fall and hurt herself or something and now is not the time to be old and in hospital. Not long up. Had an unreal sleep.
