    Tales from the new Ireland

    https://www.thejournal.ie/man-jailed-oral-rape-dublin-4935871-Dec2019/
A HOMELESS ALGERIAN national has been jailed for the oral rape of a drunk man he found lying unconscious on the ground after a night out drinking with friends.

Brahim Maddi (36) pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to sexual assault and oral rape at a place in Dublin on a date earlier this year.

Maddi went up to the victim and took €5 from his back pocket. He rubbed the man’s buttocks through his clothes, then lay on top of him and began to rub himself on the man.

He began masturbating and then left. He came back a number of times and on the fourth occasion he orally raped the victim.

Crikey.... that is almost ground breaking levels of depravity right there.

I'll never understand why courts reduce sentences when people admit guilt. He was caught on cctv and arrested soon after, he was clearly guilty so his admission shouldn't be taken into consideration.

Because it spares the victim the ordeal of a trial.

Because nobody would have an incentive to plead guilty, causing more expensive trials, bigger backlogs in getting cases to trial, and forcing victims to go through the ordeal of a trial

I understand that completely but in a case like this, he was on cctv and arrested straight after. There should have been no trial needed.

It definitely wasn't the victims fault for being too drunk or in the dark ..or falling asleep in a public place. I would never say that ...but some people.

Was just wondering how AH would react if the victim had been a woman and the the culprit was, I don't know - let's say... a rugby player?

    Back to Algeria with him.

Won't happen because some slippery eel of a lawyer will convince a judge that his "Human Rights" would be violated if he goes back there and that he would be persecuted for being gay. Even if he is not gay as the facts of the trial will get out.

    He's not being deported.

Probably because be pleaded guilty and he stated he struggled with his sexuality in Algeria.

Well when a rugby player actually rapes a passed out woman and gets convicted of it then come back to us.

As I said about the guy who killed the Japanese man, there should be a system in place to deport them and have them serve their sentence (or mental hospital stay) in their own countries.

That's the problem: we're never going to know.

(Plus, I did of course take rugby player as an example: I could have said "college jock", or "grand oul' chatacter on the juice, yer Honour")

    Really?

If men and women got together on rape crimes however we could get tougher sentences rather than this joke of a sentence.

He was out drinking with friends. Then, unless they were watching from the corner, without friends.

That was kicked off by the OP's 'new Ireland' suggestion.

I am totally getting the point of what he said.
Speaking on his radio show, Mr Hook said: "But when you then look deeper into the story you have to ask certain questions. Why does a girl who just meets a fella in a bar go back to a hotel room?
"She's only just barely met him. She has no idea of his health conditions, she has no idea who he is, no idea what dangers he might pose.
"But is there no blame now to the person who puts themselves in danger?
"You then of course read that she passed out on the toilet and when she woke up the guy was trying to rape her.
"There is personal responsibility because it's your daughter and my daughter."

Hook would have said this man put himself in danger and bore personal some responsibility for what happened.

Nah, it's just more of the all too usual self esteem issues with some around our past and how terrible we were. You'll see examples of it when say an Indian woman is gang raped and murdered by a bunch of subhumans and as sure as night follows day you'll have someone come along and say "well we did the same in the past!!" or variances of same and among some of the more delicate of mind will even claim we're really no different today and we'd be raping and murdering women if we got half the chance. I call these people morons, or damaged. Ironically though the Church is a dead duck, the sackcloth and ashes remain. No wonder they found it so easy to mould us for so long.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Lol, bit different. One is guilty and one is not.

Edit: it's actually not funny at all that you're comparing someone who is not guilty to what happened here.

    Here's an interesting bit.

Not one of the people who thanked the first post, thanked the Deport one.

Given the first post was at 15:03, and the second was at 15:06, it's unlikely that users iloveyourvibes, Matt Barrett, odhinn and Stark didn't see the second one.

So just to reiterate- these four users agree with some bull**** that such activity was commonplace by priests up until the early 90's, so we shoudln't throw stones in glass houses.

On a post suggesting, simply, deport, these four individuals didn't see fit to hit the post like button.

    **** me.

Why deport? He committed his crime here ...justice should be served here.

Deport him after his time is served.

He wouldn't serve time in Algeria the crime wasn't committed there. Plus the system is rife with bribery ..he would be out if someone in his family could pay.

A sexual assault committed by a foreign national is easily worthy of greater scrutiny than one committed by a native as it represents a failure of quality control in our migration policy.

    - how did he enter the country? Illegally? A spurious asylum claim? If it's so dangerous to be gay in Algeria how did he presumably survive there into his 30's?
    - did he undergo any sort of background checks?
    - was he legally here? If he was in such dire financial straits that he was homeless why was he allowed to stay here?
    - was he admitted under some reloaction programme, despite the disaster it has been in Germany, Sweden etc (being Algerian, he likely wasn't)

A sexual assault by a native can only provoke soul searching if he

a- has commited a serious offence before and should have been in prison, or

b- had told mental health services he was liable to commit such a crime and was not treated

I am not suggesting he is allowed stay after he finishes it. Which will probably be in about a year.
